|
|
We have had Duke since he was about 7 weeks old, obviously the first week was difficult for him since he was so young but as he grew he was able to control his functions. We had him completely trained, no barking when we are around and when we aren't there he's doesn't pee in the crate.
Well now that he is seven months old we decided to get him a new pillow to put in the crate as the other one still smelled after we washed it. Needless to say he went on his pillow the very first day, and the second.
Well we decided to take his pillow out for a day....and he held it all day until we got home. So we did this for about a week but when we put the pillow back in the cage he started to do the same thing....nothing like coming home to a wet pillow.
We wash the pillow really good everytime he goes trying to get the scent out but I'm sure we didn't get it all.
Its weird how this problem seems to happen only when he has his new pillow in the cage.
Any ideas.....???? |

| He's marking it. Is he neutered? It's not uncommon for male dogs to mark (put their scent on) new things. And you're right, you won't ever completely get the smell out. I say just don't give him a pillow? |

He isn't neutered as of right now but I don't think it was marking because he would do it everytime he was in the cage for long periods and because it wasn't just a little bit.....
I might just have to go with the obvious answer that you mentioned just keep the pillow out of the cage when I go to work....that seemed to work fine. |
