Baylee turned 6 months old on the 2nd of this month. And I guess as she gets older her tastes are changing. As mine have as I age! She hasn't eaten any rocks in a couple of weeks. However, she's moved on to poo. FUN TIMES!!!! And man is she fast! She barely waits on Reese to finish going before she's in there for her snack! Sorry, I know that is gross! I can't get it cleaned up fast enough! I'm going to be positive about this, At least poo won't cause any blockages!!!
Happy Friday All!

Neither one of mine are/were poop eaters... thank goodness. I'm weird about that even though its normal. give your dog some pineapple. I heard that after they poop it out it makes them not eat there poop.. why not sure..but maybe it will help!! Bayliss loved rocks too.. glad that's done :)

I love it! A true Weim mom....looking at the bright side....poop is better than rocks! We went through the rock eating stage, then moved on to tree bark and deer poop. Next was sticks, gloves, toilet paper and ladybugs. He's almost a year and a half now and yesterday he went back to tree bark. It's always something! They keep you on your toes.I've spent most of the last year and a half looking down a dog's throat!

Shiloh ate gravel when she was about 4 months
Moved onto poop eating too
Now at 1 year she doesn't do either one
Thank God!

Oh Baylee! I deal with rock, poop, and rock/poop eaters at work everyday! I feel your pain :) I've found that (if it's possible) if you send them out separately, it's a bit easier to manage. I've also found that if you do the correct/treat method, that helps too. I've gotten a few at work out of this by catching them heading to a pile o' poop, doing a recall, and when they come, they get a treat! They love it! Of course, I'll always have a few die-hard poop eaters , but if I can lower the numbers, I'm always happy

Our Gabbi was actually going to the basement and getting into the cat litter box for her treats! It was gross! I solved the problem by putting in a little doggy door to the room... now Gabbi sticks her nose threw it and terrorizes the cat, and I am sure the cat is laughing the whole time!

Bunny poop FTW! *sigh* It seems to be the delicacy in our yard. Every once-in-a-while, I have to buy stuff for parasites. The vet just laughs, because he knows there is just no way to keep them out of it.

My Vet suggest Adolf's meat tenderizer , or Pineapple...and if you have more than one Dog you need to see if she is eating just her poop or the other dogs poop too...if so the other dog also needs the tenderizer or pineapple. Has to do with the enzymes in both products.

I solved the problem by putting in a little doggy door to the room
We did the same thing when we had cats...my Setter and Cockapoo both ate the cat poop...Yuck..LOL.

Elsa loves Bunny Poop to...I always worry about tape worm but so far no problems:)

Somebody here gets tapeworm every year...not from eating the bunny poop...from eating the bunny.

I read somewhere that eating poop was a nutritional deficiency - not sure what the deficiency is, just that the diet is lacking something. I haven't looked too far in to it because Forrest is generally a single sniff and move on when it comes to poop, but boy have we had problems with other odd things he likes to eat.

I'm thinking deer poop is just a delicacy, like caviar. I arrived at a theory with my last dog, a female who wanted to eat her own poop, that it might be part of an instinctive female thing about keeping the den clean, because I never had a male do it.

charlie was a master poop eater he too gave up eating rocks at 5 month and moved on to poop he will still snack occasionally
we thought the dietary way tried everything but nothing worked so we control it with the leave it command
personally i've given up thinking it's anything causing it and just put it down to owning a silly weim

It is usually her sister's that she chooses to snack on. Although sometimes she gets her own. She's getting pretty good with "leave it" if I can catch her in time. I think I'll try the pineapple this week and see if it works.
