I just need to rave about Luna's new kong for a minute!
I got her the "large" sized black Kong, and filled it with kibble and low-sodium chicken broth then tossed it in the freezer (I had to put plastic wrap over the small hole so it wouldn't leak out)
Anyway - SHE IS SITTING STILL!!
She's been on the floor working on this thing for about 45 minutes now, and she's still at it!
Just had to share...

| Wow! 45 minutes!!! I'm going to try that one. Thanks for the tip, Holly and Lexi are non-stop running around, wrestling, knocking over sh#t...and kids. Luckily the kids don't seem to mind but my furniture is taking a beating. |

i use PB to plug the hole in the bottom - then stand it up in a plastic cup in the freezer.
i think a little plain yogurt dropped in to the bottom would freeze well, then you could add other things on top of it. |

Well she finished it and is back up and at 'em... Who woulda guessed she just had surgery 8 days ago! She is NUTS tonight...
I should really invest in some more of those things! We have a medium sized red one, but she's nearly ruined it...
It never occured to me to freeze in multiple layers! Duh. |

Oi. Now she is in the process of dragging EVERY toy out of the basket... What a loon.
OOh meat - another new thought! I think Kongs are by far the best toy we've found so far as far as entertainment and longevity go! |

Yeah, I've been trying to think of new things I can do to get her interested in them again. When she was a pup I used to feed her out of them. I'd put her kibble in it with some PB at the ends to hold it in.
I love the idea of freezing layers. |

I don't always have time to freeze them, but when I do, they last for maybe 15 minutes |

| Someone made a post on here about the recipes on the Kong website. Lots of different things...which is good when I am trying to temp Reagan into her crate. I am going to try the chicken broth thing..yummmm... |

| Oh...and we bought two of them so we can have one on "reserve" in the freezer in case we decide to go somewhere and need to crate her. Freezing it is the ultimate for her...lasts way longer! |

I wish Rosko would chew like that!
He just picks up the Kong, or whatever, and throws or rolls it around until stuff falls out.
I've been told they won't really chew them until they start getting their adult teeth though... who knows. |

I loooove kongs!
I use banana to plug the hole (he LOOOooooves banana!) add cottage cheese or plain yogurt more banana and plug it with peanut butter, freeze it, he's absolutely silent while he licks it up. I take it with me to the vet, classes or in the car... or leave it for the crate when I'm leaving and it's an instant "settle" command.
What would I do without kongs!? lol |
