Toby is currently eating Purina One and I really want to switch him. He is farting a lot, and his stools are not the greatest. I have been doing a lot of research on this site as well as the pet food vendors. The Solid Gold Wolf Cub looks to be a great choice ( at least a lot better than what I am feeding him now). Does or has anyone else used this? I noticed a lot of people were recommending the Solid Gold.
Another food question....
The breeder told me to feed him the Bil Jac moist that you find in the freezer section of the grocery store once he is about 1 year old....should I do this?? After doing the research it doesn't seem to be a great food for him.
I am going to also put some plain non-fat yogurt in his dish for his breakfast and see how he likes it.
I know with all this food stuff it is really a no-win debate and every dog is different... |

I think Solid Gold is a good choice. It's one of the food I plan on giving Holly.
I wouldn't recommend the Bil-Jac frozen, until I'm able to see a list of ingredients. Do you have the ingredient list on it? When I was trying to get it from them a few months back they sent me a bunch of other junk, pamphlets about their company and coupons, no ingredient list which was the ONLY thing I asked for. I also couldn't find anything on their website either. |

We had chosen the Solid Gold Wolf Cub food for Luna. She really liked it - unfortunately she has a very sensitive GI tract and could not handle the two-protien food. Not to worry though, not every good food is the right choice for every dog. We've settled on the Canidae all life stages Chicken and Rice formula which she also seems to like alright and it is easy enough for her to digest without issue.
Good Luck!

I just got the Wolf Cub and gave Toby a few pieces to try. He wolfed them down. Then at his regular feeding he barely touched the Purina. It sat in his bowl for awhile. We'll see how the next few days/weeks go. I am going to start mixing it in slowly to see how he does. I am going to put my two cats on solid gold as well. They are on Iams and they tend to get sick very easily...we'll see how they like this too.
Thanks again! |

Toby still really likes the Solid Gold but he is having really runny stools. I have noticed that some of his stools look really watery. I am only giving him 1/4 cup of the Solid Gold and 3/4 Purina. Is this too much? Should I wait a few more days to see how his digestive system reacts? He is acting fine and maybe even a little hyper than normal. I also put a little yogurt in his dish to see if that would help. He loves it, but I am just afraid it might be making him worse. Any advice????? |
