An unneutered super thin male, tan weim showed up in the neighborhood. A neighbor asked me to care for him and I have looked and called everywhere to find his owner. It looks as though he had been journeying about 2-4 weeks. He is highly trained, I think as a hunting dog. It appears as if he fell out of a truck-he had abrasions on his right side, which are mostly healed now. He has gained a little weight and feels and looks much better. He has no microchip and the vet estimates he is 3-7 years old, but I think probably around 4 1/2-5. He is super lovable and gets along well with my elder Australian Shepherd, who is tolerating him. I wish I could keep him but it is impossible. This dog deserves a loving home. Other than his recent wounds healing, this dog has no physical flaws that I can see. He has a bit of tartar on some teeth, but other than this, he appears to be perfect and has a wonderful temperament to match. He also appears to have been an indoors dog as he craves to come inside, but I have 4 cats and worry about that. Please, someone, this is a wonderful dog. Call me at 334-220-6242 (JJ Martin) if you can give this guy a home. And please have references for me to call. Thank you.
They are in Birmingham and yes, they have been contacted, as well as all the local vets and shelters. I just cannot believe someone has not posted about him somewhere. My neighborhood has all pitched in b/c I have a broken foot so we all take turns with walks and play dates so he's been getting lots of love. One neighbor has a weim so she's been very helpful in teaching me about them. He's doing so much better and is playing now. He is such a sweetheart, I really wish I could keep him.
I am so sorry to not post. I had responded to these questions via email as I received them. "Gus" has been the happy sibling of Ally (Golden Retriever) and Hank (Weim) since Thanksgiving 2011. I was so happy that a family that loved Weims and understood their needs adopted him. He is happy and healthy and full of energy. I get to see him from time to time and he is thriving. He even has a lake house for vacays!!! Thank you all for your help and concern.
