To all who show, I received this from my showdog list - forwarded with permission, encouraged to share with EVERYONE that may take a dog to a dog show at any point in their life.

( Reported in Belleville , Illinois ) PETA terrorists put antifreeze in water dishes when dogs were out being shown. The handlers noticed the
pink color (they said it looked like Kool-Aid - different brands of antifreeze can be different colors) and changed the water, discovering by the odd smell what it was. It was announced over the loudspeaker to not put your dogs into their crates without checking water dishes first. Lots of people immediately took their dogs out and locked them in motor homes. We just decided that one of us would be guarding the crates at all times from
now on. I am furious about it. This is what they consider Ethical Treatment of Animals? They are sick people.

PLEASE forward, and be EXTREMELY careful. Personally, I'm not leaving any food or water in my crates if I'm not right there beside them, or someone else I know and trust is there to watch (dogs aren't left alone in their crates, of course, but now I'll be taking extra precautions).

In my area PETA/HSUS activists have been know to release dogs from crates at shows. They did it years back at the Myrtle Beach shows and the dogs ended up getting out into the road and getting hit by cars. They also have done it at the Perry, GA shows. The dogs ended up being scared and roaming for a couple of weeks before they could be caught.

Good to know... Zeke is going to start trialing soon, I imagine PETA will not like dogs chasing around barn yard critters very much. I'm not going to let him out of my sight.

Funny how they don't do this at FTs/hunt tests. Guess the presence of a few folks with shotguns could be a deterrent. Like I've said before, I catch those clowns doing this kind of stuff, it will cost them dearly.

or releasing them to die in traffic?
Can these people believe the dogs are being abused by being asked
to perform (which the doggies are totally into) - and that that's worse than death??
Or is it the selective breeding they object to....

I don't know if they know what they are for and against. While PETA is always rallying against animals being killed for fur and/or meat, they euthanize a high number of animials in their shelter. http://www.newsweek.com/id/134549 Their message and actions are very conflicting.

They think that it's 'better for the animals to be dead than live in servitude'.

This scares the crap out of me. With Sagira doing agility trials now. But I am an over protective mom, I don't leave her alone...heck I don't leave her at all, not even with people from my club usually. I just would never forgive myself if something happened to her or any of my babies.

I never leave Milo alone either. For one thing, I know he'd throw a royal fit if I put him in his crate in a strange building and then walked away from him. He's very spoiled So when we're at a show, he's always on his leash & with me. I will hand him off to a person I know if I need to use the restroom or something like that. Anyway, after reading all this, now I really won't leave him alone.

PETA wants you to think that they have good intentions but they do NOT! If it were up to them NO ONE would even have animals as pets. There wouldn't be Weimaraners or other purebred dogs. The head of PETA, Ingrid I can't remember her last name, has said on numerous occasions that she doesn't believe in pro-creation for humans!

A few years back they were at a show in FL I was at and they were taking pictures in the grooming area. My Weim and Irish Setter were on tables being groomed and they started taking pictures. I asked them nicely what they were taking pictures for and to please refrain from taking pictures of my dogs with out my permission. And the language they used was atrocious and we had them booted by the cops. We were told in the am to be aware they were on the grounds and that was just the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. They were escorted off the property. I don't think anyone would ever go near my crates because my kids are super protective of their crates. And they are usually pad-locked in when I leave them.
