Bailey (aka Boozle) is having recurrent UTI's. Antibiotics seem to cure them, and then they return within a few months. X-rays are always negative for stones and the like. Has anybody experienced this, or have any suggestions?
She is my first "Weim experience", and is an incredibly healthy two year old blue. Somebody dropped her off at the Humane Society, and somehow we ended up together. She does require a couple Prozac a day to be able to function, but other than that she is great....any clues on the UTI (perhaps diet?) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much for the wonderful website.

I know what you're going through and it's very tough. My 10 yo samoyed has been having recurring UTI's for the past several years and she has been put through the ringer with tests. Someone on here has suggested cranberry capsules - I've just started this last week. She weighs about 65lbs, so I give her 2/day. I just toss them into her food and she eats them. I'm hoping it helps her. Only time will tell.
Good luck with your girl! |

| Silkie doesn't have recurring UTI's ...but I do give her unsweetened cranberry juice sometimes just because...she loves it. I mix it with her water 50 - 50. |

| when ziggy had recurring uti's the vet put her on food that kept the ph really acidic (lower than mot dog foods - i emailed many companies), so cranberries might do it. |

The doc said it may be diet related. He said that we may have to switch her to a diet low in purines. I feed her Iam's now, and was under the impression that was good food. I started her on cranberry tonight, and hope it works.
Thanks again for all your help! |

| Cranberry pills seem to have done the trick. No UTI problems in a while now...knock on wood! |
