Thank you SO much for all of your suggestions though...someone will come up with one that I haven't tired...until then, I'll keep plugging away. He's lucky I love the little sucker so much  |

Sterlingsmom,
I too started using the squirt bottle for the jumping. He won't ever jump on me. But when guests come over I hand THEM the squirt bottle and tell them to put their hand up to his face and say "no jumping" in a stearn voice and if he still jumps I tell them to fire away! It's working quite well. |

| I do the same. I was AMAZED at how quick it worked with countersurfing too. I rarely have to use it anymore..they have both learned to listen to my VOICE or else I LOVE that they are growing up!!! I'll probably NEVER get another puppy again..LOL! |

Alas, I am starting all over again with Gracie awwww.... I must be nuts! Although she is much more timid than Duke and one stearn "no" usually works quite well with her. Duke only rarely "counter surfs" these days but I still can't trust him. This and jumping are works in progress....but I AM seeing progress so we are on the right track. |

I did the same thing with Danni! I would train her so much a day (only 5 minutes the most) but I made it fun and it worked like a charm.
I've learned the patience is an invaluable tool when it comes to training but with dedication it will pay off. A good foundation is the key and it's baby steps the whole way. I don't think it's ever too early to start the basics! DukesMom, I'm sure you'll agree with me. |

I wonder if they're easier to train than weims..for some reason jumping and weimaraner BELONG together in a sentence.
I fixed this problem in one training session with squirt bottle (not in the face!) |
Yeah, she just goes with the flow!! Totally opposite than Bailey |

Once you have tricked them to sit (they will only do it when they want) be patient until your Wiem has reached 8 months old. The next step is to teach them to stay. STAY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT COMMAND THIS BREED NEEDS TO LEARN! Start them with the sit command and then show a full hand, command stay, as early as 6 months but do not expect results. This is a very difficult time with your Wiem but with everyday work will prove it's results. Work on the stay command by walking away further and further and calling them to you to come to you and giving the command to sit when they get to you. As they get older keep this up and do not expect results until they are16 months old. The stay command must be mastered. The stay command will lead to the complete mastering for your Wiem. This will lead to walking your Wiem without a lease and they will come at your command no matter what command you use to call them. Jumping, biting, running away, barking are much easier to control than you think. I have raised 4 generations of Wiems and can give you advise about how to handle them but it will take alot of dedication to their needs. You need to realize you did not get this breed to satisfy you but to satisfy them. These are the most loving family members you will ever have and they want your guidance. Don't give up, they are like a 2 year old child until they are 5. If you need more advise please feel free to contact me. |

At first I thought it was a typo but to misspell weim thirteen times...? We'll see if that individual signs back on.
