| I have been very interested in starting Scout on tracking for quite a while. There has been some mild interest in our local kennel club but it doesn't seem to go anywhere and I am getting frustrated. Anyone have any suggestions for books or video that could help me get started? |

I started tracking with my Weim on my own. Sawyer just seem to take right to it and did what was natural, the only thing I had to work on was teaching him to slow down a little and to announce his location when he found the game. of course I've only used him to track injured/wounded game so I would imagine that would be easier than other forms of tracking... |

Yeah, it does seem like such a natural sport for weims. Hope I have as much luck as you have! |

Indeed. When I worked at the animal shelter, on occasion, a dog or two would escape. I would get Turkish and he would help me run them down. It came real natural to him, heck, he helped me find Asia on the highway, and that was a 10 minute excursion. I have as well as he learned his body language and understand what he means when he does certain things. I never use it to hunt, he has never, lol, and I have never hunted ever. But I do see how it comes natural.

WeiMe,
What is your opinion on this book? Can you give a review?
I was thinking about starting Zellie on Tracking because she tracked her 1st deer about a month ago without her being trained. I was SO proud. |

| I really liked the book. I also got the DVD. What I like about this book is that it tells you all the equipment you need and actually gives you a day by day training schedule. It also gives specific training guides for puppies and adult dogs. The book is really geared towards training for AKC tracking tests but I think the training could be applied towards other types of tracking. Good Luck! |
