It is so cool to see so many weims in one place. The facility was great. The picnic area was completely fenced in so the dogs could run loose. My dogs were surprisingly well behaved. Gunnar and Scout did a lot of begging. Jake only tried to eat one other dog. There was a young, intact blue male there. He came up and sniffed Jake and that really pissed him off. I guess he kinda feels like, "what, you think cause someone cut out my testicles that I got no balls??? I'll show you!!!" I ended up having to keep Jake leashed until that dog left because he was looking for him. He wanted a piece of him. He certainly doesn't act his age.

Silkie gave a young female a nip right at the end. She is just a baby too, 10 months old. I felt so bad. Silkie had rolled over for me to rub her belly and poor little Lucy came up to sniff her. I saw her show her teeth and couldn't grab her before she caught Lucy on the lip. Thank God it wasn't bad.

Gunnar and Scout are very well behaved except for mooching. Jake kept getting into the kitchen and he is so big that no one else would grab him. One time I was looking and looking for him. I'm calling him and hear one of the kids yell, "He's in the kitchen trash can!!!" So I go pull him out. He had mayonaise all over his face. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

And I am thrilled that my old man got to be there!!!!!!!

I got to see weimamama (Kelly) and her husband Chris. Her two dogs are very sweet. I love her old guy, Blue and Juno is such a cute little girl but she is very tough. She is extremely pretty. And Chris's tattoo of Blue is awesome!!!!

We won three raffle items. (Yay!) I never win anything. We got the 5 lbs of Nupro Silver that we use so we were very happy about that. Kell, we won two of your baskets...the one with the T-shirt with Blue's picture on it and the one with the deli rolls....I gave them some for dinner. They love them.

Silkie hurt her foot or leg at some point. She woke up limping this morning. No boo boos, I think she just sprained it. I gave her some arnica and 25 MG of derramax. I know it isn't serious. She will be fine in a day or so.

It was great to see so many dogs that I either brought in or helped find a home for.

We were all exhausted last night. We all fell asleep on the sectional before 8 o'clock. John and Jake went in the bedroom at some point but none of us got up until after 5.

All in all, it was a very good day. We had a great time. I can't wait until next year!!!!!

I will post some pictures soon.

Sounded like a lot of fun. I knew we should have not even tried to race this weekend, The forcast was iffy anyways. We should have just gone down to the picnic. I would have loved to meet old man Dante. We are so glad to hear he's in such a good home! And so glad old man Jake had a fun garbage scrounging time. Of course my two little girls would have had the times of they're lives with some many dogs to run with!

Post pics soon.

It was great, Pat. I wish you would have come. There were pictures of Ashley and Steele in a "Weims Adopted" display that Julie did.

Check this out, today I was working in the yard and went to get the hose. On the hook where the hose hangs was an old bone...once a marrow bone. It was Steele's. Her foster mom sent it with her the FIRST time when I picked her up. It was in my car forever. We took it out and it laid in the yard. When we got her back before you picked her up...she found her bone in our yard. I guess John hung it there so he wouldn't hit it with the lawn mower. I can't throw it away. I will leave it there, so I always think of her..and Ashley and you and Nita.

Are there any other weim meet-ups in the area? We're coming to Pennsylvania in the a couple weeks and these two want to play with other weims!

Go to our website and check out The Hair of the Dog - 5K race. It's at a winery in New Jersey. It's on May 18th. It's going to be a great time!!!

John and I were originally going to go on Saturday, but now I think we are going on Sunday..the day of the race! We will bring 2 of our dogs with us.

I'll wanna go the same day you are. Getting a lot of work done around the house.. so that will be the deciding factor if John will go. Maybe I can con one of my friends into going.

Aww. Now, I wish we could go to H-o-t-DOG! Kathy is doing such a great job planning it with Julie and the committee. I think it will be very successful! (We'll be away)

We had such a great time at the picnic. The best part was having all the dogs off-leash playing together!
Blue, our boy, forgets how old he is (1 month shy of 11!) and that he has bad hips... he was trying to get "frisky" with EllieMae! He got lots of crate/truck time for rests and I think he missed the group pic, but I was happy he got to be there with Junie since neither one got to go last year!
June collided with Roy at one point and is favoring her paw, but she's a trooper! She was just happy to get hotdogs! Wink (It's something we dont give her but 1x per year since that what her diet consisted of before we rescued her!. It's kind of a little family joke now, when she gets one... she had TWO!!)
To see what a difference we all make in the lives of these Weims, is so gratifying...Seeing all the adopted dogs there and on the display wall/scrapbook is really heartwarming! That scrapbook was AWESOME--it was sent to Julie from a volunteer in Iowa.
We loved meeting all the new adopters and volunteers, and it really seemed like everyone got along (Except for a few toussles and some minor, territorial bickering!)
The dogs slept (me and Blue on the floor with his Bella's relief pack on his butt and June was on the upstairs couch w/ Chris) from about 7:30pm till 11on Sunday! And the were beat--had to cut our walkies short yesterday since they were still sleepy!

I can't wait til next year and I really hope we can have it in the same place again... it was such a PERFECT venue for our event.

Ok, my john works in NY so he's hard to contact during the day. Based on when our tile is being installed in the den (can you guess why?) will determine if he goes. Actually my dad used to be in the "wine" business, I could make him go with me (although that is only punishment to me) haha.... I'll see who I can get to come w/ me.

Aw, I wish we could go, but I think that is the day we are starting the drive. Sad It's going to take us 2-3 days to get from Kansas to Allentown, but it will be worth it to bring the weims!
