This is the one John made for his mom for Mother's Day...

You can't tell from the pics, but there is a layer of acrylic over the pictures..it looks like they are under glass. It's really neat.

This is what he put on the back of ours...

Image

He didn't want me to post a picture of the back of the one for his mom...but it says Happy Mother's Day from your loving son, John...and he did the silhouette of the weim.

Yup, he sure did. He even harvested the wood. Making the tray is the part that takes talent.

Oh wow! This one is also amazing! John is seriously very talented and you are a very lucky person. The inscription on the back with the silhouette is so sweet and touching. This is how Jake lives on in everyones heart. Outstanding craftmanship!

Thanks, guys, I'll tell him. I'm not sure he really knows how talented he is.....some of the stuff he makes is pretty incredible. The serving tray was an idea I had when we were on our honeymoon. I collected coasters and brochures from all the bars and restaurants we went to in Key West and told him I wanted to either make a serving tray using the acrylic or a table or bar top using the same method. Course that was five years ago and it's still a project in the making. Then Kelly did the old dogs rule stuff and we lost Jake and I asked him to make me the serving tray with the tiles. Ours was the first tray base he made. Then he made several more using different woods, stains, finishes and different handle shapes and every one is unique.

Ok....Since we are bragging up John, I had to post pictures of the serving tray he made for me. I can't tell you how wonderfully made it is - down to every little detail. Everyone that sees it, comments on how well made it is. I am so grateful that John would do such a wonderful thing for us. It makes me smile everytime I look at it. Thank you, John - you are the best!! (The pictures don't do it justice).
