Anja, Grace & I went outside to get into the car this afternoon. Anja jumped in, and Grace had disappeared! I searched & hollered for 3 scary minutes, wondering how my pup could have shot off so quickly! It was so unlike her.
Continuing to holler, I walked around the side of the house to see my little 30 pound weim with a huge white hen in her mouth! I thought, oh no, Grace has killed our neighbors hen!
The hen's little head popped up and looked around . . . like Grace was just taking it for an afternoon stroll. Thank god for soft weimaraner mouths! I told Grace to 'drop it', she did, and the hen waddled off. I picked the hen up & put it back into its cage in their yard. I guess the dad had taken the hen out for a stretch, forgotten about it, and left it wandering around.
Here's the twisted part: I was kind of proud of my little pup! It's the first time she's gotten a bird! Ofcourse I wish it hadn't been the neighbors, but hey, she's a bird dog! And she had the absolute cutest look on her face with that huge white fluff of feathers in her mouth. But she got a bird! I'm proud of my little huntin' dog! |
