selfmade toys.. 24 Nov 2010 17:02 #235945

Levis always chews his toys and they don't "live" very long...and that can be really expansive so i decided to make my own toys and here they are:

But his favorite toy is this one here!! Also made out of fleece.

I got most of the ideas from this webside: http://www.squidoo.com/homemadedogtoys
I hope you enjoy making our own toys as much as i do :D !

Cool! Unfortunately, I am about as creative as a stone, but I think I will give this a try. Thanks for sharing the website!

I've made all of those as well! They don't last more than a couple minutes with my Lucy, lol.
I like the braided fleece a lot.
I also sew skinny pockets and tie the ends off after putting an empty water bottle :

The "bottle buddies" usually go for $7 in the stores.

I also buy squeakers on Ebay and tuck them in with recycled stuffing from ripped up toys :)

I found a good dog bone pattern online...or you could draw one if you're an artist...then simply cut two pieces of the bone sew around the edges and turn inside out and stuff then stitch closed. Using denim (I buy and collect old jeans for quilts...I'm a strange one) would make them super strong...sometime when I have some freetime and I'm not working, sleeping, or studying I will attempt this and let you know how it goes! :)

I have some other ideas, but too tired to post at the moment...will get back to you on them!

I love the water bottle buddy idea. My dogs are more than enterained by a plain water bottle which they destroy in minutes...maybe even seconds...so a little fleece would give it some added life!

I tied a tennis ball with some strong cord to a basket ball goal this usually will keep him entertained, unless a leaf blows across his sight or a squirell runs in the yard. I've been thinking of taking a 1 liter bottle, cutting some holes in it and filling it with food so when he hits it food falls out.

I have bought Grayson a lot of toys from the pet store, however his favorite chew toy is the insole of one of my old shoes. He must really like the taste of my feet haha, he never destroys it like his other toys, just carries it around and casually chews on it. I also have begun to make him toys out of old ripped t-shirts stuffed in socks.
