I watch it all the time. I think what he does with dogs is amazing. I just always wonder if it is real. He can get those dogs fixed in no time. I'm not sure if he works with them beforehand or not. In any case I love it. I also love "It's me or the dog" But actually I'll watch anything with dogs in it.

I love it's me or the dog! The english lady in that show is awesome! I love the expressions on her face as she listens to the people.
Not such a big fan of Cesar.....it is too scripted and hollywood. |

OH WOW!!!!! its me or the dog is on telly in america!!!! that is sooooo cool. well when Oscar was a pup he was really naughty so i emailed the show, they interviewed me twice but they decided Oscar wasnt naughty enough for the show?! they send some one in to work with you for three weeks then Victoria comes just for four days to dot he filming.... this dissapointed me. but i suppose thats just how it works on tv shows. i'd have loved to go on the show tho cos i think they do wonders!!! problem i have with Ceaser is he doesnt really show you how he does it? i try it out on the fur kids but they just look at me like mad?! |

I like them both. Dog Whispered is just more edited. Just cus it looks like he's there for one day, he's not. And he takes some back to his "rehabilitation center". I just tell my dogs to "pay attention" to the good stuff when it's on |

i watch both shows. My dogs aren't really naughty, just a little high strung until you walk them. mostly my female. Cesear lives by walking his dogs though and that solves a lot of problems. it's so true. a good walk can calm a dog down in no time......and it's good for the human too. |

| I like both shows, probably Dog Whisperer more, the thing with Cesar is that he is self-taught and he makes it look really easy. I've been to his seminar and was impressed with his outlook on dogs and rehabilitation. |

I love Cesear....I always tlel Wrench " don's make me call Cesear!"
I sometimes would like more detail but it is a tv show and no miricles happen in 30-60 minute shows ....I do want to get his book..I think you cna't ever take all trainers to the T but take some and leave some type of thing...learn what works for you and your dog....I love the excersise stuff and it's so true with Wrench...miss one walk and he will get in trouble. Also how dogs cna't just be thrown in a backyard and all that good stuff...For the mos part the basica principle of it is great...being firm...not hurtful...no yelling and getting anxious because the dog will too and it doens't do any good...not being stuff and nervious because you see what he's tlaking about with that big time....the way he holds the chains up high on the neck is something I had enver heard about and so on...even feeding and being socialized too. |

I don't like him at all. I find him arrogant, and his methods simpistic and incredibly aggressive. It MAY work on dogs with a particular type of socialization / behavior problem, but the average citizen alpha rolling their dog, and using aggression to rule is going to cause more harm than good.
I think the guy's a hack, but that's just me. |

| I love the show and i have read the books. I have used some of his techniques with Rocky and at the dog park when another dog has bothered us. For me is a combination of all training methods though, especially now that i know how Rocky functions. I follow his "exercise, discipline, then affection" at all times but i am not really good at "no touch, no talk, no eye contact" because i feel that the look in a dog`s eyes and their body language can explain a lot. |

I wish I had cable. Sometimes I feel like the dog "yeller" instead of a whisperer...I have been getting frustrated with my 5 month old Yoko. Whenever she gets restless and needs another walk she starts jumping up on me and tearing atmy clothes. Not fun. I pull her collar and say down but she seems to only listen if I yell it loud. My daughter said its good I do taekwondo because I can tell really loud. But I really wish I could be stern with her without the yelling.
Anyways maybe I can find some of these shows on youtube. I will check it out! Thanks. |

It will be harder to do now, but when Slade was tiny, I taught him a "settle" command. Now, when he gets too excitable, or it's just getting near to bedtime, and it's time to gear down, I just say "settle", and he finds a bone to chew, or a stuffie to suck on, and he knows it's calm time.
The way I taught it, was when I wanted him to settle, I would tell him so, then make him lie down. I would speak sofly to him while rubbing his belly. Any time he squirmed or tried to bounce around again, I would gently place my hand on his chest to keep him from getting up, repeat "settle", and go through my "calming motions" again. Any time that he would lie still and start to gear down / relax, I would quitely and soothingly praise him, while continuing to rub him, until he was fully relaxed (usually asleep). Eventually, he just caught on to what "settle" means, and it's become a pretty reliable command. I also find it helpful to provide a long(ish) lasting chew that they love at this time, as they WANT to sit still, and by the time the chewie is gone, they're not in zoomie mode anymore anyway. |
