Hello! I just joined Weimaraner Addict today and wanted to say hello. I am 25 and live in Colorado Springs --- I have owned a pair of German Shepherds and a Border Collie my whole life...and have always wanted a Weim but never had the opportunity.
My girlfriends sister breeds once a year, and every year they try to find a friend or relative (any good home, really) to take the first pick for free and they asked me if I'd like the honor this coming breed from their big-boy "Buddha."
Anyhow, though always a hunter, and general lover of the animal, I don't know much about Weim's. I have been around a plenty in my time, but never as a companion, always as a friends good looking canine! If you have any suggestions, please do the same as if I have any questions (I'm going to post!)
Thank you for having me and I love the forums. Very informative! Definitely the best I found on the Internet! Thank you and good day!

Well, I just spoke to Buddha's owners and they plan on having my baby around the 2nd week of September. My birthday is on the 11th, which is going to make for a spectacular birthday gift! I cannot wait! It is driving me crazy, but on the flip side I already know 800% more about this dog than I did before. Growing up having German Shepherds and a Border Collie, I have a lot of learning. All three of those pups have completely different personalities, and styles, but all share the same common ground in that they are VERY reluctant to stray from their natural inhibitions (with Sage & Zuba, the German Shepherds, you couldn't come within 30 yards of my home without the two of the pacing back and forth as close to the 'intruder' as possible...it was like clockwork)!
Anyway, thank you for all the information that is available in this forum...what a GREAT resource! |
