I adopted Wilma a week after my dog of ten years had passed away.. She had been rescued by our local animal shelter from a puppy mill, along with two males. We walked into the dog area, I had already had my mind set on a four year old shaggy dog that I had seen online, but when we got there we had found that she had already been adopted.. So we looked at the dogs for all of two minutes and I fell in love with Wilma as soon as I saw her.. she was just sitting in the corner quietly and wagged her tail each time I would look at her. We put in an application for her, and were told a few others applied for her as well, so we wouldn't know for a week or so. I was 15 at the time so my dad was taking care of everything.. My dad called everyday to check up on the application process, and kept telling them she was the right dog for us, I even went down three times that week to spend time with her.. Sure enough, that following Saturday they called us and told us we could take her home. We brought her home, our cats freaked out... but they came around. Wilma became a couch potato within an hour and now has her own couch in the living room, along with being able to share a bed with me every night. She's also best friends with my cat Tullulah Belle.. They are always cuddling.. It's safe to say we helped saved our girl from what would have been a very difficult life.
