| Don't know about most states, but here in Mo dogs on deer are a big no-no. Not even supposed to use them to track wounded deer. |

| Neither. My dogs are out of pheasant guide dogs from Ks. Neither guide put their dogs thru formal trials or tests, but they made their living off those dogs, which IMO is more impressive than any title. |

I have to agree with you. Nothing better than real bird dogs that hunt wild birds. Here is a pic of the last day of Pheasant season. Little Rosie really did well, but I was only able to hit one as they are very jumpy and leave fast by the end of the season. |

| I'm jealous, the only pheasants around here are either pinned raised or on a preserve. For the cost to hunt a day on the preserve I could purchase a dozen pheasants through NAVHDA members! (LOL...AND that's if they HAD a dozen available) |

Well if you ever get a wild hair hop in the car around the end of October of any given year and meet up with us in Aberdeen, SD - we go out there every year and there are PLENTY to be had! |

It's like that here too. My dogs can guide at our local hunt club but they only use pen raised birds and I'd much rather travel for the real thing.
ymepointer, who is Rosie out of? |

True, nothing like real pheasants...although I've never hunted real ones! LMAO! Looks like I'll be planning a hunting trip come next bird season.
You're so lucky, I'd love it if Danni could guide at our Pheasants Unlimited preserve. Our friend (whom raised GSPs) was our guide out there and we had a blast. He said he guided for extra money but I'd do it just for the fun of it...and maybe a rooster. LOL! My father thinks I should contact them but I don't think Danni's THAT good yet...
The very least, I could always run her out there and see if we could do a "clean-up" or just purchase some birds and run her. |

I'd be careful about guiding on a preserve that uses planted birds if you are in the middle of your training. I think planted birds cause a lot of problems with dogs and also there is always obligation to make the hunt about the clients and not your dog. Our club allows use of ecollars etc and does not require a dog to be broke - which frankly is scary to me considering that I don't want some nut shooting over my dog if they aren't steady.
Guides here can make lots of money on tips though and it is a nice way to get a lot of bird contact for your dog. I personally would prefer not to do it even tho my dogs are broke.
I'm going to be traveling this fall for sure, altho we have gotten some nice rain haven't we? I'm hopeful for some good local hunting for a change.
I owe you an email Candra, will write more later... |

I can understand your point. IF I would ever consider something like that the clients would be friends, whom we've hunted with. They front the costs, we front the dog, that sort of thing. Anyone can sign up to hunt on the preserve, and no one is required to use dogs. BTW, I'm talking about guiding in the future...
My only thought was getting her bird exposer. Since quail season ended yesterday , my only other options are NAVHDA, quail and pigeons.
If you think it would hinder her, then I won't consider it.

Yes! I know! We met up with a Game and Fish officer this weekend and he was saying next year should be awesome for birds! As you know, the Gamble's we've been hunting are flushing wild, and it's been a pain in the @$$. Next year there should be plenty young and ignorant birds. I'm also planning a trip down south because the Mearns hold tight...
Hey, don't worry about the email(s), I know you've been busy with the trials! |

I can't wait.... I'm probably going to go to Montana and Michigan, and if time and $ permits, more travel. Of course locally we'll do valley quail and I'll for sure have to go out to AZ for gambles.

Yes... it's trial season and putting them on is so much work, but it's been fun. Nice crop of young dogs coming up!! We'll be doing some all breed trials to finish out the season. I'm also working on some video for the WCA's judges education but I'm not sure yet if I captured anything really good. |

You have an invite, but I think hunting with Bill would be much more fun! Danni's still learning...

Well...just film Riley and Indy, perhaps Sascha too! Problem solved. |
