| She hates swimming. When I hold her she doesn't seem to mind it but as soon as I let her go she goes right to the wall to get out. When it is 100 degrees I would think she would like it. How do I get her to play in the pool? |

Haus hates the swimming pool too, but I found a Lake close by the other day that starts out shallow and gets deeper. He played in the water and really enjoyed it. If you can find something like that you will have more luck. My only problem was cleaning my brand new car and then giving him a bath. It was worth it though, we had a lot of fun.

My recommendation is as smackinner said. you have to let them get in.
We take Zellie to the Stow dog park (like you know where that is )
it has a lake that they can swim in. We went 2 weekends in a row and got 3 dogs to swim. 1 never swam but ran in the 4-6" of water. then it just went out, the owner was like "dogs name" what are you doin? you don't even know how to swim!. The dog never got out after that. owner was excited.
The next weekend there were 2 weims. 1 hated water, barley put it's paws in the water. The other was a VERY tall weim that would go out as far as his belly. Both were swimming by the end of the day. (bout 4 hours there) We would just keep throwing Zellie's Wubba Kong out.
So letting them do their own thing and also having a dog around really helps! |

| Just be patient and keep up the positive attitude. It'll happen if you work at it. And there are breeders out there working on getting weims that are natural swimmers! |

Bunker loves lakes where he can get in gradually. We would play along shore with his toys and slowly go further out into the lake. Took about 2 days to get him swimming but now we can't keep him out.
I'm excited I just found an indoor dog swimming pool about 40 minutes away so we'll be making some trips there especially when winter comes and it's too cold outside. |
