We actually used the atopica for quite a while and it worked really well but was very expensive. Since we started adding the probiotics to her food we have noticed an improvement. I'm also from Louisiana (Lake Charles to be specific but now live in Dallas) but know how bad the allergies can be down there. This summer, we actually kept Sade inside quite a bit and I always wiped her down after coming. Granted, we had to go through a couple of rounds of Temeral-P and antibiotics when things got too bad but for the most part it has not been that bad this summer. I would try the Malaseb shampoo and follow the directions to a T if possible. I know you hate seeing your pup looking like that, it's sad. I would also try changing your pup's food or feeding raw if possible. Please keep us posted as I will be interested to follow your progress. If I can be of any other help please let me know.

I think that the Malaseb shampoo is a little bit more effective in that it takes care of specific skin conditions one being staph infections. The Malaseb shampoo contains Chlorhexidine in it. By far all of the things I have tried, this shampoo seems to work the best on our girl.

She has the same thing. I switched to an oatmeal based shampoo from my vet and started giving her benadryl for dogs and brush her as well and it cleared up in one week. My vet said its a fungal thing something that has to do with some weims having a weird immune system. Hope that helps.
