My 9 month old female weim Miley has never really been interested in shoes. we've had her since she was 6 weeks. There was one incident before this one when she was about 4 months old but nothing since, until About 4 days ago my husband realized he was missing a shoe (which had been there 15 minutes earlier) and he saw Miley's blue hot dog tail sticking out from under the bed. He looked under there and she had his running shoe. she had chewed a hole in the toe that was big enough for my husband to stick his big toe through. she also chewed the rubber off the toe and her and Fooky were chewing on pieces of it. So of course she got in trouble and spanked with the shoe. we thought we were over it but my daughter left a pair of Heely's on the ground and Miley got it and took it under the bed. she chewed the heel off of it.
Do anyone have any advice on how to stop her from chewing on shoes?? They destroy ALL toys i buy them. the kong is no match for Fooky. |

Put the shoes and sneakers in a closed closet. Problem solved. |

No suggestions on the shoe front unless maybe you want to spray them with bitter apple? But then your shoes smell like bitter apple....
For something to chew ,however...
I think it's more durable than a kong...?

We fostered a bully with a mean chew and he never made a dent...Jersey won't touch hers of course. She's too ladylike. Only likes stuffies!! |

When you find out let me know...lol This job was done by our weim Rosie. That will teach daddy for going away and leaving his shoes out.

LOL! Miley didn't do that much damage. I'll have to show my husband and tell him to feel lucky she only chewed what she did. |

| My boy Sam thinks that shoes were made for him to chew. He loves them one good thing about this is now everyone puts their shoes away. |

I am thankful that Gunther just likes to carry them around and move them from room to room, not eat them!
Knock on wood!

LOL That's what I tell my family. If it's left out it's fair game for a bored Weim.
Seriously though. You can teach your dog to "leave it".
At your pup's age though I would not leave her unattended. It would be like leaving a 2 yr. old to get into things. You need to think "childproof" for your Weim pup. |
