Seizures are actually fairly common in dogs and unforutnately are usually diagnosed as "idiopathic" meaning they don't know why it has happened. Most of the time they do not put a dog on meds until they become frequent. I do know people who have controlled seizures by changing diet, to a more healthy diet of raw or home cooked, NO CHEMICALS/PRESERVATIVES. I have also heard that Vitamin B supplmentation might help.

I never thought of that.....that would be my first step...all raw, all the time.

I haven't used the raw diet, but feed him Innova Large Breed Puppy food. He's about out of that, and the next bag will be their Large Breed Adult formula. It's an excellent dog food, so I don't think that has been a cause.

We don't feed him people food all that often, either. An occasional pizza crust, piece of meat, yogurt, or cottage cheese. The good stuff. Smile

Is there any Iris bulbs in your yard? If ingested they do cause severe seizures in dogs. Usually it isn't a permanent thing, but after more exposures they can prone to seizures the rest of their lives even if they don't eat more.
