| A few weeks ago, Goose either got bit by something or scraped his leg on something (maybe a bush/cactus) and he had a scab. Well, the scab has since healed but a scar has taken its place. He already has multiple scars on his legs, ears, stomach (suspecting abuse or improperly cared for by original owner) and hair does not cover these areas and are quite noticeable. Has anyone found that weims skin do not heal as well as other breeds? Is there something I can use to help make these scars less noticeable? Is neosporin safe to use on dogs? |

| Scooter has some really gnarly scars from his previous life. He has a really bad scar on his hip where he gnawed out a BB, at least that's is the best figure the vets have seeing as he has two other BB's under the skin near by. I have been using bag balm to help moisten the skin and give it a little more elasticity, but his skin is very thin on that particular scar. I actually use Scarlex (it's a spray antiseptic made from scarlet oil and it's used for horses), it really works well to heal wounds and leaves little if any of a scar behind. As for neosporan, i don't think there is any problem to use it on a dog. I hope Goose heals quickly and the scar heals over. |

| well i think other dogs do get scars it's just that weim fur is so short that it shows easier. also i've used triple antibiotic on Icarus and have never had any problems. |

Sweet! Thank you all for the advice! I've used bag balm on his nose before and it healed great (he had a ritual where he would rub his nose on the mat beneath his food dish before he ate. He did so much it made his nose bleed-- idiot ). Have a great day you all! |

We use cocca butter. It is all natural, so it doesn't hurt them to lick it and they do! |
