Well...

Rosko managed to get the last spot on the later flight from Boston to SLC Friday night. Once 'with the program' the Delta PetsFirst experience went very well.

I was pretty surprised to see him sitting up wide eye'd in his crate as they brought him in (shivering from the cold ride from the plane to the cargo building). The female half had an 'emo' moment as he came in... I can't believe she started balling upon seeing the dog arrive. Wow. I'll never understand women, the dog maybe, never women.

Anyway, he climbed right out and into her arms obviously remembering the both of us from our three day Boston visit to pick him out two weeks earlier. Rosko was extremely happy and excited to see us. I have to admit I was shocked considering his day consisted of driving 45 minutes to Logan International, going in to the counter, being refused, driving back 45minutes, riding to Walmart to get a bigger crate, riding home again, then riding 45 minutes back to Logan Int'l, going through the counter process, sitting for an hour in temp controlled 'containment', then flying 5.5 hours to SLC.

I fully expected a sick dog. Not even close.

He pee'd once in his crate. That was it in all that time. It was a photo finish at the house after riding 30 minutes from SLC int'l though. Barely made it to the front grass... He was wimpering quite a bit by that point!

So far, he has totally exceeded our expectations. Not only in personality, but in size... He was 13.8lbs at 8 weeks. A big boy. We weren't expecting such a large puppy to arrive!

I was certain we would be cleaning up 'messes' all around the house and we even began to budget new hardwood floors after he 'destroyed' the carpet. Well, looks like I can't justify the new floors now. He hasn't gone in the house yet. Apparently, he likes going outside. A small miracle has happened here and I would appreciate everyone recognizing it's significance. Shocked

His 'poopies' (as my other half refers to it) are rock hard and you could almost set a clock to them (not to mention probably rollerskate on them). I only wish I had his regularity and consistency.

He knows the word 'no' and immediately stops whatever he is doing and looks for a toy if you use it. He apparently can sit, lay down, come and understands 'get it', 'find it', 'bring it', 'drop it' and 'give it' already though I have no idea where he learned it all. At first I thought this was a fluke; however, it's been three days and he's only getting better at it all. Last night he was quiet all night long. We slept. I actually had a semi-conscious thought that he 'might be dead' around 2:30am since I couldn't hear anything and began waking myself up with all kinds of thoughts of 'omg, could he have choked on a toy? Got smothered by the blanket?' Nope. He was just sleeping and casually chewing his rope toy when awake while we slept.

He seems to not mind rain at all since it was pouring last night and he just did his thing like nothing new was happening.

We are pretty overcome by the puppy. Not at all what we expected but a very pleasant surprise!

I'm going to get the 8 week photos up as soon as I can but takes me a minute to get them sized and some of the red out of his eyes. I should probably take a pic of him in his puffy coat as it's kind of a trip. He was getting the shivers in his 'hoodie' (breeder put a 'hoodie' sweatshirt on him for the trip here) at night in the yard (it's getting in the 30's at night here now).

Oh yeah, he learned to ice skate early this morning when he went out to pee. The condensation froze on the deck and the steps down. Made for some quality entertainment. He didn't mind the icy grass other than it was cold so he wanted to do his business and head back in. So much so he learned how to walk up the steps (all 14 of them).

Anyway, sorry it was so long and I'm not sure why I felt I should share it all, but he's here!

Update: Got a couple pics on www.tinypic.com to work (gave up on fixing the red eye)! Found a pic of him in his puffy but he's belly up in it with his 'junk' showing so I'm not so sure 'puppy porn' works. Shocked

Here he is with his rope:

Here he is sitting in 2D:

Here is sleeping normally:

Edit: Okay, the soon to be infamous 'puffy coat and junk' photo has been added to the gallery (hit the button below this post to go right there). I even put a warning on it that it may not be suitable for small children. He honestly just ended up sleeping that way and my other half 'had to have a picture'. Twisted Evil

Rosko and Oscar are great looking pooches!

I notice Oscar didn't get his tail docked. I'd think he'd do alot of damage when that thing revs up for take-off!
I'm sure Gunnar would if his tail wasn't docked Wink

Puppies are so resilient, I sent one of mine to France, it ended up being about a 24 hour trip. He was none worse for the wear.
Enjoy your pup!

Thank you everyone.

Finally put up a few more photos in the gallery.

The sub-freezing temperatures at night lately has really toughened him up fast. There's rarely time to get the jacket on him in the middle of the night to go out so he tends to squat pretty darn fast now. Created a fog bank with one 'steamer' he left. It froze solid by morning though!

He won't 'puppy nip/bite' at me much anymore, but he sure does my girlfriend. I think her 'ouch' and 'no' is kinda soft and the body language doesn't transmit its sincerity to him. After getting nicked on the face today she learned to mean it pretty fast though.

Time to start the hardcore training I think. He seems to have acclimated in well now.

The lobster lives!

He hasn't really shredded anything yet... In fact, I wish he would. It's getting increasingly hard to keep him focused on something the more bonded and settled in he gets! He will play with one toy for 30 seconds then find another or attack me or the girlfriend!

I think we are going to start using a leash in the backyard for potty outtings to maybe reel him in a bit and help the gf establish some dominance. He seems to be putting himself above her lately on the list.
