Tonight was Riley's basic obedience graduation. To my surprise he took first place. I was not surprised with is obedience skills as I knew they were pretty strong, but socially he has gained in leaps and bounds. When we first started he would shake all class long and try and dash for the door at any opportunity. By the end he was letting strangers pet him and whining in excitement as we pulled up to the school. We start intermediate obedience in two weeks and I think he will really do well. Who knows, maybe as soon as he gains a little more confidence we will try out doggie daycare.
It just makes me so mad that here is Riley a wonderful young weim... but he has no social skills and is scared of everything. Ignorant owners shouldn't be allowed to have dogs. |

I am so glad he is doing well. It is great that he is getting much needed socialization, on top of some good manners.
