Rest in Peace Ruger, my Love Share

Gone, but not forgotten. This is a board to remember those dearly departed souls that have crossed into the never ending fields of canine paradise. Weimaraners may pass, but a Weimaraner never really leaves you.

My dear WA family,
Thank you all just so, so much for all your kind & caring thoughts. Your comments are a wonderful tribute to my sweet, baby boy.
The days are not easier - in fact, they seem to be worse. I miss him so very much.
Reading all the love in your posts helps more than you know.

Lisa and Joe,

Our dear Shannon sent me this when I lost my Jake.....it seems to fit your life with Ruger even more.

If it should be....
If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
and pain should keep me from my sleep,
then you must do what must be done,
for we know this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand,
but don't let grief then stay your hand,
for this day, more than the rest,
your love and friendship must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,
what is to come can hold no fears.
Would you want me to suffer? So,
when the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,
only stay with me until the end,
and hold me firm and speak to me,
until my eyes no longer see.

It is a kindness that you do to me,
although my tail it's last has waved,
from pain and suffering I have been saved.

Do not grieve, it should be you,
who must decide this thing to do.
We've been so close, we two these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

I know losing a dog is different to each person. For me it was devastating every time (as I know it is for you right now) and it will seem harder since the holiday will mark the passing more significantly every year. Don't be afraid to cry, reminisce, laugh and smile as you remember Ruger. He is beside you helping you during this rough time. You had more years to share with him and for that I am sure both of you were blessed. Please know he is so happy now. We are here to listen, to share, to grieve, to laugh with you, and one day when it's the right time, to cheer with you in seeing the sunshine again.

This is one of the hardest things in life to go through....I am sorry :flower: What a long life Ruger had, you are so lucky to have gotten so many years! I am positive Ruger knows exactly how much you love him and miss him. This always makes me feel better when I lose a pet or even a friend....someone told me once that a lifetime on earth is only equal to minutes in Heaven so do not be sad for whomever has passed because to them you will be there in a minute :flower:
