as some of you know, i have been trying to get mattie . well i have to say I'm really getting tired of rescue places.Sorry, i know a lot of you are involved in rescue. first of all I've tried to get a foster from one rescue, but since I turned down a dog that had seizures, they will not foster to me. I just couldn't think i could handle it since my last dog died from having a seizure that couldn't be stopped. it was not a weim. I have a great place to foster a weim. a fenced in yard, i own my home i do all jinds of obedience work and agility with my weims, they all have their canine good citezen paers and sterling is a registered therapy dog. all my activities include my dogs! the rescue where mattie is says they would be making a decision but then never call. i don't understand if these dogs need homes or fostering why they pass up good homes. I started calling louisville rescue since nobody close to here responds. i am frustrated, i would rather get an animal from rescue in need of a home instead of a puppy, but am getting tired of this, does anybody have any ideas?Lori

You know, I'm a little tired of you thinking you were so wronged by Tri State. If you are going to come on here and tell your story, tell the whole story. You agreed to foster Shelby. You knew she was prone to seizures as you asked about who pays for the medication. Yes, she did have a seizure shortly after you picked her up and you immediately told us we had to find her another foster home. That's not fair to us or to her. You are making this about you...and it isn't about you. It is about our dogs.
I don't understand how you can't see our reasoning for being leary of having you foster for us.
I do hope you get Mattie. But don't blame all the rescues if you don't.

I didn't come on here to name names i never even said what rescue it was . I think my question is fair to ask what rescue places look for, i just think if its important to get a dog a home, like mattie, the least they could do is get back with an answer.

I am not blaming the rescues if i don't get mattie, i dont know why you hate me so much when all i am trying to do is give a dog a good home.

I don't know the story behind this and I would rather not be involved in it. I'm also not a rescue volunteer, but I have adopted two rescue weimaraners and have friends who do other breed rescues. I can tell you rescues are incredible, but not perfect. Rescues are made up of volunteers with their own busy lives, just trying to help dogs. Many people work full-time jobs, have their own dogs, children, other involvement, etc. I admire people who foster dogs a lot as they are the ones who bring home sad, under or overweight dogs, with bad behavior, health problems, etc. By the time I got Josie, I know from her foster family and other people from the rescue that she is not the same dog as when they picked her up. They did an amazing job bringing her back to health and beginning her training. If I was you, I would call the rescue and ask about the decision. Rescues are very careful with their screening because they want to make sure that the home they are sending their dogs to will be their last and a great, loving home. They don't have time to follow up later. This is why many rescues have rules like no home with young children, no apartments, etc., because they have had bad experience in the past. When I got my dogs, I was prepared to respond to such obstacles, because I wanted to know I was the right, final home for a dog before I ever brought one home and I wanted to be ready to let the rescue know that. Not saying you have anything fishy in your past or weren't prepared, but it definitely helps. If you can think of stuff like that, right up some questions they could ask you and have your answers ready. I usually call and leave a message, give 48 hours to respond and then call and leave another message like "maybe you didn't get my last message, but blah blah blah". Call other people if you can. Email if there is an email listed. Be persistant and prepared, but also understand that they are busy volunteers.
