REMOTE EATING

I always feel guilty when I start a new thread....like I'm special or somethin

So here's my question(s)....

Joni just turned 1 year on the 12th (happy birthday)! These are my problems:

SHE IS EATING ALL MY REMOTES. No kidding...we're on our 7th this year!!

I put them up when I leave, I scold her when I find them. But she's just so d*mn smart she knows how to get them down from where I hide them.

It's one of my only two problems...any advice?

Also....she is a horrible leash walker. Not because she misbehaves but because she pulls soooooooooooooooo bad. I mean...I'm no weakling but she whips me all up and down.

So we got her a prong collar...but I hate it. I can't bear the thought of it hurting her. I'm just afraid a harness will only give her more ox-like power to haul my *bum* down the road. Sad

Hmmm the remote situation...is there anyway you can put the remote on top of the fridge where it is hard to reach or in a cabinet that is hard to open?

I use a prong collar on my weim and it doesn't hurt him at all. We trained him correctly with it and now, he is great on a leach! Trust me he is so much happier with it on, and so am I. One of my friends has a viszla who was crazy on a leach and now she is wonderful because of the halti/gentle leader. Hope this helps! Good Luck

Another vote for the prong collar. It works wonders and if it hurts he'll stop pulling.

Mischa hurt herself worse on the flat collar, she was choking herself so violently. I was really hesitant to try it, but as a last resort I used it and instantly she was better. She never pulls on the prong.

I don't know why some dogs love remotes ..my son actually has to get several at a time from his cable company because his dog chews them up every chance she gets.....she is half weim Laughing

Nena has eaten a few remotes in her day...all of them were when she was between 1.5 years and 2.5 years old. If we weren't home by 5 pm, she would find it and eat it. A friend told us that she missed us and our scent is all over that thing! I guess it makes sense.

We put them away in a end table with a door on it since the last one.

The prong collars work great, make sure you are using it correctly. I always thought that the place where you attach the leash goes at the top of the neck, but our trainers told us that that part should be at the right side (if you are walking the dog on the left of you), otherwise you can hurt their throat and it should be a short, quick correction. Works wonders for Gunther and he is a joy to walk now.
