Ok, this post is both a query and a rant!
I went to town today to the nearest place that sells Canidae, I wanted to check it out and possibly buy some for Ace.
This place is a small, privately owned grooming shop, and I've never been there before. So I'm walking around and the (owner) lady has 4 German Shorthair Pointers in there with her, and she is just screaming bloody murder at them, telling them they are fat and lazy! Then she punched one of them on the back! (I know, I'm about ready to barf....) One came over to the counter, and he had a toy in his mouth, being really cute and nice, and she was poking him in the throat (hard) and then yelling at him because he was growling at her. (Um, yeah, 'ya think?) These dogs were acting like angels! (I hate to see what she does to them if they do something bad!) Sad I cannot for the life of me understand why people hit dogs, it makes them hate you! And what's the point of even having a dog then?

*whew* Anyway, she was pushing Taste of the Wild, she had some Canidae (lamb & rice) but it was almost like she didn't even want to sell it to me. She said it did not impress her. (not that I really care at this point) I took the Taste of the Wild samples and got the hell out of there! Any opinions on Taste of the Wild? I wouldn't trust this chick as far as I could throw her. I think I could go all the way across town to a feed store and buy Canidae if I wanted, but I absolutely will not give my business to someone who punches dogs!

That story sounds horrible! Did you ever think to turn her in for hitting her dogs?

I agree, not way give her your business. And spread the word in your area. Hopefully she'll soon run out of dogs to mistreat.

It's really shocking that she was treating the dogs that way, but weird that she was doing it in front of customers. She's supposed to be a groomer, does she think that people are going to be ok with her using their dog as a punching bag? I've been telling everyone I know about it!
I really just hope that she was having a bad day or something, (but I kind of doubt it. ) The dogs weren't hand shy, but they did kind of cower...

We could perform a rescue operation to "liberate" the doggies. Twisted Evil That'd teach her, huh?!

I can't believe how stupid people can be. It just amazes me. I'm glad that you won't be giving your services there. She doesn't deserve it. But I feel bad for those poor babies.

wow... you'd think she'd have more sense to act like that in front of customers, some people are just oblivious.. Rolling Eyes
In retail they really shouldnt push certain brands over others, even though I believe grain free is good for active breeds, it doesent work for everyone, if you wanted Canidae, she should have respected your decision.

The whole situation at her shop was really weird, yelling at and hitting the dogs, her general abrasive attitude, not wanting to sell me what I came in there for. I dunno, I'm still baffled.

I know a girl who runs a no kill shelter in my town, I'm going to ask her if she knows this particular shop owner (small town, everyone knows the scoop on everybody else....) and see what she thinks. If there's anything we can do...maybe I could plant a bug in someone's ear that people are talking about how poorly she's treating dogs over there and folks are getting concerned. That may straighten her out if she knows people are gabbing, and her business is going to suffer.

I'm not a big fan of Taste of the Wild. It gave Elsa gas (but then again, what besides Canidae and Timberwolf don't...)

I also don't like them because it's manufactured by Diamond...who had some of the recalls last year.

They do have a plus in having some grain free food.
