We adopted a year old weim from a rescue a few weeks ago. She is pretty skinny, saggy eyes, not too much muscle. I think she was probably malnourished before she came into the rescue. She looks like she still has a lot of growing to do, since her paws are so much bigger than our adult male who is a bit bigger than her. Her skin looks huge on her too!
I know we're not the first to have adopted a malnourished rescue. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions of dog food to feed her to help with weight gain and adding muscle. She runs a lot.
Right now, we feed her about 3.5 cups of Adult Beneful twice a day. We were using Pro Plan, which seemed to be a lot better but our vet recommended we switch. I think I'll switch to Canidae for both dogs though. The Benefel leaves them so gassy! |
