our 7 month old seem to poop a lot (about 5-6 times a day) is that normal? He eats 2 cups of Pro Plan in the morning and 2 at night.
What do you think |

| No it's not really normal. Is it soft? It probably means that his food is not very digestible, ie, the harder the poop, the more the dog is taking nutrients from the food. |

Well I don't know if 5-6 times a day is normal or not, but my 5 month old goes 2-3 times a day. My poor long suffering lawn, and resident poop scooper (husband) finds even this highly egregious. |

| I was noticing this was happening with my puppy as well. I thought maybe it was because she was so young. Then I watched my sister's puppy (same age) for a week and realized that she only pooped 2-3 times a day. I decided to try switching Gracie's food to see if it helped and so far it has...down to about 3 per day! |

| It definitely depends on the food also. What are you feeding? |

| Lincoln used to poo a lot when I had him in ProPlan puppy...I've switched to pro plan adult and his poos are great...good consistency and frequency. |

I'd switch to a puppy food. Also maybe a different type that's a little easier to digest. Give me the main ingredients, protein content and fat content of your food... all of us on here might be able to come up with some suggestsions.
My 4 month old Ridgeback poops 4 to 5 times a day. That's just how she's always been. Zehen (the weim) pooped that much till he was about 5 months old. It just depends on the dog. |

| You might want to try some digestive enzymes and probiotics. Gas isn't really normal altho a lot of people accept it as normal in dogs. |

| Pro plan gives dogs the poops from my experience (and eukanuba too). If you try switching to a higher quality food you may see a difference b/c he can actually absorb the nutrients better. And gas isn't normal when it happens on a daily basis--only when they get into something or you give them something they aren't used to. |

Mayu did not do well on ProPlan. She was stinky, her poops were stinky and soft (and way too many, I thought).
She's on a different food now... not nearly at stinky and much more "normal, healthy" poop. |
