Puppy Heartbeats!

Postby CherrystoneWeims » Thu Nov 12, 2009 2:08 pm

I had this ultrasound taken of Cassie last week. We saw at least four pups on the ultrasound.

How fun. I can see 2 maybe 3 pups on that picture. If you look close for the shape of a C on the pic, which is the spine, you can then find a back leg, which is right about the bottom of that C. See it?! The foot is resting at the bottom of the black area. Yeah puppies!

That's just one pup in that picture. Each pup has its own placental sac. Near the top of the pup is the heart. We saw heartbeats!

Who'd you breed Cassie to? Is she an Ethan daughter? Exciting stuff!

Cassie is: CH Cherrystone Clams Casino JH (BISS/CH Silversmith Ethan Allen JH,NSD,BROM x CH Cherystone Perl of Sagenhaft MH,SDX,NRD,VX,BROM)

Sire of the litter is Wilcin: CH Castaway Wilcin von Harwil (CH Indabas First Edition MH x FCH Von Harwil's Miss B Havin)
Wilcin is a Zach (FCH Grey Wynn Bad To The Bone) and Slick Willie grandson on his dam's side and an Apache Rebel grandson on his sire's side.

Hopefully I will get the best of both worlds in field and show. I got to handle Wilcin at the National show specialty last year in the Field dog class so I was able to go over him and I loved his personality. I have also watched his full sister run in the field and she is a pistol!

It's so funny and amazing that they do ultrasounds for doggie pregnancies now. Isn't technology great? I can't really make out that ultrasound either though. It's funny because my hubby says when he retires, he's going to be an ultrasound technician because he's already used to looking at radar all the time and it looks about the same!

BTW, no fair posting pics of the puppies so early! I only ever got like one picture of Milo before I got him from you!

LOL The vet who did Pearl's US for Milo's litter didn't print out a picture for me and I had it done at the same office!

I got pretty good at looking at US when I had to have so many while pregnant for my son. I actually was pregnant for twins but one of the eggs implanted in a bad spot very close to the uterine horn. Thank goodness it absorbed itself. I also worked at an OB/Gyn's office when we lived in W. VA and got to see lots of US pictures!

Amy, you should see all the shopping I have done this week and the puppy won`t be here until March! I think I was having a puppy shower for myself. We are so excited! :D

I do not envy you right now. If you are anything like me, you are going to think about this puppy day and night until you get him/her. I was completely smitten with Milo before I ever got him. And I didn't even know if I was getting a boy or a girl! He did not disappoint once he arrived. I remember going to the airport to pick him up. When I got there, he was behind the counter in his crate, and he was sitting so calmly and peacefully like he was just waiting for me. Pam and I both had been so anxious/nervous about his flight. We were both relieved to see how well he handled it. When I took him out of his crate, his nose was to the ground and his tail was high in the air. I knew right then and there that he was exactly what I wanted and had been dreaming about. I knew he'd be a great hunting dog. And every day since then, he's just gotten more and more fun. He's a couch potato, love bug in the house. And a totally driven, hard core hunting dog in the field. Sorry to go on so much about my dog, it's kind of pathetic I guess. But I know how excited you're feeling right now and I want you to know you're going to get a wonderful puppy. I'm glad you're on Weim Addict so I can hear about him/her as he grows up!
