Maybe this is silly but perhaps you can plant a tree to honor Zane's life. A tree planted can fill a permanent place in your life where the pet can live on and be remembered.

so sorry to hear it has been hard shannon. Sad Losing a pet is hearbreaking, and it was so clear how much you loved Zane.

I miss my Gus every day. Tomorrow will be two months since we lost him. My husband and I talk to him a lot, and we have pictures of him everywhere. He will always be with us, and slowly (but surely) the pain is being replaced by joyous memories. I cried pretty consistently for the first few weeks, and was very sad for over a month and a half. Getting a new pup has helped immensely -- Pip will never replace Gus, but he does bring life and joy back into our lives, and he makes us laugh. We often talk about how Gus is smiling down on us and sharing the laughter.

May you find peace in the wonderful memories Zane brought your family.

It gets easier - but it doesn't go away. I still have my bouts of crying - Darby helps, but it's more of a distraction than anything. Kammo can never be replaced, but it helps to have another blockhead in the house! As much as I love Darby and how special she is to us, she reminds me daily of how special Kam was and how lucky we were to have him in our lives, even for such a short time.

It sucks having bad days Crying or Very sad . Just try to remember all the GOOD days with Zane!

I can't imagine what you are going through....I don't want to see that day, but I know I will eventually. Remember the good times and know that you gave Zane the best life!!!! He knew what love was because of you!
It has to get easier, I don't know when, but one day at a time.

Once again, you all have helped so much...things are a bit better, seems that if I flip through the computer and see Zanes life pass along through pictures kinda gets me down.

I really like the tree idea...that just might be a keeper.

Night time kinda sucks, my husband started working a bit at night again, and does not get home till 9 or 10 for a part time job, and I am so used to having Zane by my side and also Wyatt... both boys made being home along much easier. The truck rides are awuful, that is what I miss alot...both boys with us with my Zane looking out the back window...or the drive through window at Sonic, he knew they gave out treats! He would paw the window, and drool...there are so many things I miss about him. September 2nd he would of turned 3 years old...that kills me inside...

Thanks again for all the encouragement and the open ears to listen to me and just being there...

You all are so wonderful....That is too cute about the chicken nuggets...I remember that from Zane's big post from when we lost him. When you mentioned about the pic of Zeik and the signature..I teared up...then again seeing all the silver boys on here, there are so many of them that remind me of Zane it hurts.

Yesterday was a hard day for both of us. Bill took Wyatt on his first walk by himself with out Zane since he has been gone. Bill actually came home crying. Said it was the hardest walk he has gone on. I guess Wyatt stayed really close to him and did not even pull. Bill said it was really hard not having one dog leash in each hand...that it just felt empty. It was hard seeing him cry, he does not cry very often...

In five days it would of been Zane's third birthday. It will be a rough one.

Thanks for thinking of us....

Oh Shannon... I know this is so sad and hard for all of you. I think of Zane often and really feel for you.
I remeber Casey's (non Weim) first birthday after she passed; we already ahd Blue but Chris and I both went out to the yard and sat (It was Valentine's day and cold and snowy) but we sat and talked to her and cried. We each did it at different times. It was so hard, but afterwards, I realized she was no longer sick or in pain and understood that she was ok waiting for us a t the bridge and I think she sent Blue to help us heal.
Walking Blue was difficult and for Chris, it was very hard. He too is not a crier; is bipolar, so I always worry about his emotions. Well he cried and cried...very hard to see our "men" in pain/sadness.

Zane will never be forgotten--especially here!
We loved him like our own.
I will light his candle again this weekend and for sure on Tuesday...
doG bless you guys and I hope soon, your sadness will be replaced with ONLY happy memories.

Lola's birthday was also shortly after we lost her. We were pretty rough all day really, but we got zoe and riley new toys, gave them special treats, and spent a good bit of time with them just hanging out. Spaghetti noodles were her favorite, it was the last thing I could get her to eat, so her birthday was the first day we ate spaghetti... the girls each got a big pile of their own.

We are creeping up on 1 year since her diagnosis. It was this time last year that we were going through vet visits and medicines and whatnot trying to figure out what was going on. I can feel it in the air.... just about makes me sick. Im sure you will feel it next summer too... it all comes rushing back some evenings.

I think getting through this winter will be key for us... it will be a year in November, then her birthday in January... at that point we have been through the hardest part, and while that huge hole in life never goes away, Riley has sure done her best to bring a giant pile of joy into our lives, and thats all you can really hope for. You cant replace anyone you lose, you can just be glad that you had them, and you can enjoy life and make them proud of you.

You guys are killing me. I am so sorry that we lost so many of our babies. You were all with me when I thought I might lose Jake....

And I thought I was going to die that night..and I can't even imagine what you all went through. Just know that I think of you all daily and still cry for all your babies. I love them like my own.
