Well, I thought this was amusing.. in the other post I mentioned that Minny was not happy about going to the vet..well the vet came out and asked if everything was OK at home.. Yes....why..? Well she peed in her crate then ROLLED AROUND IN IT.. and now she stinks.. Wow, this is a first. I think she's pretty smart...she rolled around in it so no one would touch her. She is nothing like that at home. I snickered all the way home. With the windows down of course. I would say YES she has VET anxiety. Poor baby...that's the last time I use the drop off option.

LOL, what a funny girl. Smart too! I'm sure she was glad to be back with you. I hate taking my pups to the vet.....they are always so nervous. |

SO HAPPY, she couldn't wait to get in the car. but I felt sorry for my son..he sat back there with her with a towel over his nose. Fortunately we have an SUV so most of her was in the back..back. |

When we took Hannah in to be spayed I stressed to them that we would NOT be leaving her overnight so they had better have her done first.
The vet called to say she made it through surgery just fine and he didn't see any problems with coming to pick her up before they closed. Another hour or so later he calls back extremely concerned because she was drooling so much. Said he had never seen a dog drool that much. I told him it was probably just stress and I would watch her closely when we got home.
We got to the vet to pick her up and she looked sooo happy to see us. We walked her out to the car and we were getting ready to carefully pick her up and lay her in the back of the SUV when she just jumped up there with the look like "get me the heck out of here NOW".
They know. I am constantly amazed at how much more these dogs figure out and retain. She is the best darn dog we have ever owned in our lives and I am just thrilled to have her! |

my little cat was symptomatic of a urinary tract infection, so i had to drop her at the vet so she could pee in a special litter that wouldn't absorb the urine, so they could test it.
i hadn't head from them.. and then at the end of the day, they called to tell me she hadn't urinated and was extremely combative anytime anyone came to her crate.. they were going to have to give her general to do a bladder tap, because it was almost impossible to try and manually compress her bladder to get a sample..unless i wanted to come take her home and try and get the sample myself..
i was a mess.. she is the most timid, gentle thing..
so i pick her up.. take her home, and lock us both, with the special litter.. in kade's room..
she snuggled with me, purring.. but would not go!
it had been 12 hrs now since i dropped her off.. no pee..
finally i just let her out, followed her into the littler box, and caught a clean sample in a plastic cup..
vet said i did a great job on the sample.. she got treated, all is well..
animals are quirky, huh.. |

These animals are smart. When Cooper was getting neutered I told the vet I wanted to take him home after he woke & not have him stay the night since they had nobody there. He had no SA & I wasn't going to have him develop it by being locked up alone in pain in a strange place. They laughed at me a little & said it wouldn't be a problem, they could handle it.
Dropped him off at 7am. Got a call requesting I come to pick him up before 11am. He was howling & rattling the kennel doors. The techs were practically in tears. As soon as I walked in the door of the clinic he stopped (he was in an inner room & could not see me). The next time he had a little procedure the vet actually had me come in to the surgery to hold him & we left (with no hospital stay charge)!!! |

wow!
i am hoping when hooch has his surgery in december that they allow me to take him home straight away, too.. i imagine they will.. he had one procedure so far that they wanted me to drop him off for.. the look of horror on my face was enough for my vet to rearrange the times so i could wait and bring him right home after..
i'll bring it up with her when it gets closer. |

| Wrigley loves the vet. he doesn't mind going but I think he has an eating disorder b/c he never wants to get on the scale and he fights like hell to stay off it. it's weird as soon as that is over he happily trots into the exam room and before the scale happily trots inside and puts his paws up on the counter to say hi to everyone. he is such a weirdo!!!! |

Oh, what a silly girl! She must have thought the pee was the lesser of the two evils! lol That cracks me up.
When I took Scooter in for his neuter earlier this year the vet tech said "Man, he is fast!" Apparently he would run circles around them in the 6'x6' kennel. They said it would take forever to catch him. They are smart, I tell you. |
