Brady has this think on his back paw. It's about the size of a dime and risen like a bump. He has had it for about a week. He came in from being outside with it. it was smaller and got bigger over night, but has stayed the same size since. At first we thought he had scratched it outside but it has not scabbed over. IT has never bled. It doesn't seem to hurt him when i touch it. It constantly moist. I'm not sure if this is from him licking it our something coming out of it. It's hard like cartilage. We are going to call the vet first think tomorrow morning. Just wanted to see if anyone had an idea of what it was.

Could it be a spider bite?? Someone on the weim list posted something that looks just like that and it turned out to be a spider bite. Seems possible as it is on his paw...maybe he stepped near it.
Please let us know what the vet says. |

I think you are right. i looked it up what he has does seem like histiocytoma. I will still let the vet take a look at it but since it is on his foot and hasn't bothered him i don't think they will do much.

Our Piper is having a very similar "bump" removed from her hind foot today in fact. We had one with Riley also on her leg----I believe they are pretty harmless but you should probably have it removed and an analysis done on the tissue.

I have leasrned from experience not to panic. Lucy had a huge lump on her side (see lumps and bumps) I thought or rather worried the worst. Turned out it was from some sort of trauma and it had just filled up with a bloody liquid that the vet drained. Chances are your bump is the same, although Lucy's was way bigger. Defininatly go to the vet.

That looks like something that nearly all of my dogs have had at one time or another. Their (the dog's) licking does not make it better. An anti bacterial spray with xylocane or similar pain killer in it stops the itch and the licking and allows the welt to dry out and heal. The vet always gave us a tube of Panalog ointment which is the veterinary equivalent of neosporin. The last time Udo got an owie, I just used the neosporin plus pain and things cleared up right away. Another thing our vet told us to do was give half a benedryl tablet to reduce the itching. That stops the desire to lick. It has the added benefit of making him sleepy.

Fooky has never had that but we do have benedryl tablets for him because he gets rashes on his belly next to his hind legs. he can lick there for hours. not only does it sound disgusting but it makes the ras even worse. the benedryl really helps.
