Question for those of you who use Arnica....
I asked my husband to stop in a health food store for some and he returned home with an ointment....same difference as a capsule or not at all for a dog? Meaning it'll serve the same purpose if you think you know where the injury spot is to put the ointment on their skin versus swallowing a capsule or liquid drop or however else it is normally applied. |

Our arnica was just a regular pill. I don't even remember seeing an ointment. But i cant say whether it would do the same or not. It would make sense that it would.

Yes, the ointment is the same. The only problem is keeping it covered up, so your dog doesn't lick the area. I use this all the time on my dogs. I also use Injury drops, which goes into a cup of water. Just so you know, Arnica now comes in a gel form as well. Generally the gel is for the facial area, but can be placed elsewhere.
Also, another product that Boiron makes is called Calendula. This stuff is GREAT, especially for open cuts, burns or skin irritations. Again, it comes in a cream or gel. |

the ointment is the same stuff, BUT works just on the outside of the dog.
the pills heal from the inside. they are either small pills or tiny sort of granules.
they come in different strengths 6X, 30C, 200C 1M etc.
30C is good, since it also works against shock and trauma.
the ointment should never go on open wounds. i find the pillules/granules a LOT easier to deal with.
we use them all the time (25 years in martial arts, so we know about bruises sprains and strains etc.) |
