Has anyone has good results with Nutro lamb and rice? This was the first site I heard bad things about Nutro. I just switched Bailey last week to cut out corn and wheat. Advice please!!!

for all the bad, my folks have a recue IG that was prone to seizures and not eating... we are talking terrible, nearly killing him seizures. since they tried nutro he has done exceptionally well - he has a light seizure maybe once every month or two, he is eating better, etc. it isnt perfect, but its the best food for him to date.

There is no one good food that is right for every dog. Even what appears to be the best of the best, some will not do well on. I have a friend who feeds her dogs a kibble with lots of corn -- her dogs live happy, healthy, long lives.

Some of the higher end foods are too rich for some dogs. Some have problems with certain proteins and grains, and other ingredients.

The best thing to do, I think, is to check the ingredients. If you are happy with them, and your dog is healthy and seems to like it, then you have found the right food.

I'm actually in the process of switching mine from ProPlan to Nutro Venison and Brown Rice formula. I had my Lab on Nutro when he was a puppy and I loved it! So did he, I'm not sure why I switched come to think of it. Probably because someone told me it was crap food....

The only issues I have w/ Nutro is they are not getting enough supplies to keep my local petstore stocked. my q/ is why can they not get supplies? where is the ingredients coming from? and I also know a rep who never gets alerted to recalls...even the voluntary ones. I know too many folks who's dogs got sick from it.

If you live near a PetCo, I'd try any of the Natural Balance Limited Ingredients formulas... no by products whatsoever, no artifical preservatives.
they have lamb and rice (rice ss a grain, but they use BROWN RICE) then they have sweet pot. and fish, sw pot/venison, duck and potatoe and VEGETARIAN (a true vegan formula...no dairy/eggs.)

another great grain free is Wellness CORE. very high protein.
