charlie had an accident this morning while out on a walk with me and my children he was running with the girls and ran into a small tree knocking it down
the squealing was terrible and he obviously hurt himself badly once we settled him down we notice he was limping on one of his front leg (obviously the one that hit the tree) i don't think he's broken it as we can touch it and move it but it must be sprained or bruised has anyone any advice on how to care for a sprain/bruise?
he's resting and when we encourage him to get up he is holding his weight on it much better than this morning but he wont get up without us poking him.
when i phoned a vet (not our usual one as they are closed until later) he said to let him rest for a while if he's holding some weight on it it's a good sign.
anyone help? |

Perhaps some baby aspirin for the pain? Only other thing that comes to mind is like for humans for acute injuries - RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation)
Feel better Charlie! |

| Do a search for Arnica. I have used it in the past to reduce inflammation. I think you'll find some good information on it. |

| I'm always leery of giving dogs people medication- even aspirin. Just make him rest. If he's still limping on Monday I'd get him in. If nothing else they can give you some pain medication to make him more comfortable. |

definitely arnica against all bruising an sprains. it also helps against shock. it will not interfere with other meds.
you get arnica at a health food store, it comes in a little tube. either small beads or tablets. |
