Please anyone, HELP!
Zeik Loves to dig all over the lawn. Big holes, little holes, grass shedding holes... He is 6mo old is this something that will go away?

I'm not sure if it depends on the Weim ~ but for Jack this was a brief phase that he has since outgrown.

yeah, gracie did this for about 3 months early on, and stopped when the ground froze in the winter. she never picked the habit back up in the spring, thankfully. i got tired of filling holes each week!

I think it's a stage, too. But still correct him if you don't want him doing it. It's all a test when they are puppies! Very Happy

The only thing I know about digging is either use a shock collar (something I've not tried) or give the dog their own digging spot. Especially in the summer they dig to try and find a cool spot. I have on corner of my yard that someone started an excavation in, and that's their digging spot. Sometimes they just need to dig--they are dogs, despite what they think! My dogs go through a digging thing every few months where they do it with reckless abandon for a few days. I've heard building a sandbox for them to dig in is a good thing. What's better than digging in sand!

That works until they dig a new hole, then you have 2 holes full of poop, until they dig a new hole, then you have 3 holes full of poop, until they dig a hole, then you have 4 holes full of poop....

I know Luna only does it when we leave her out unsupervised, so we try to avoid that when possible... otherwise we just live with holes. In our world, the backyard is for the dogs... the front yard is for being pretty!

After about the 6th hole our dogs stopped digging in the lawn completely Smile They do continue to dig on the side of the house and I told my husband to just let them dig. There's nothing on the side of the house for them to harm and I'd rather they dig there than the lawn.

i think Miley is trying to dig to China. I keep telling her she might not come back if she makes it all the way through. Very Happy Fooky was a digger but has since slowed down. he really only digs when Miley gets it started. We tried filling the holes with poop but now we have like 6 poop holes. =) when they dig in the dirt i just let them do it. Better then destroying the grass. we can buy new dirt anyways and just fill it when we move. we live in government quarters......military housing.
