Hello from beautiful Oak Ridge TN. I have looked at your site for a while and actually signed up to become a member a month or so ago, but just now posting. I have 2 weims... Jack and Stella, a rottie named Harley and a "sister" dog Evleyn the Scottish terrier.(she is my moms but I care for her most of the time).

We got Stella in January from a "breeder" that we met in a gas station parking lot after replying to a classified in the local newspaper. I had not done any research on the breed at that time. One of my friends has one and I fell in love with her. Mostly because of the way she sticks with her children while they are outside playing. Anyway... I have fallen in love!! She is goofy, and elegant all at the same time. I now know a lot about the breed and all it takes to have them.
Like I have read on this site, you can't have just one. What is up with that? My husband thinks I have lost my mind and that I am becoming that "weird dog lady". I am not sure why I had to have another one because I am busy enough with my 4 year old, and 1 year old boys. not to mention my other dog. Anywho... I was browsing petfinder classifieds and ran across Jack, an 8 year old male that needed a new home. So what did I do? I persuaded my husband(all of us married ladies have a few of these tricks up our sleeves), loaded the kids in the van and drove 2 hours to meet his previous owners. WOW was my first reaction, he is beautiful. He is a muscular 80lb sweetheart. He is a bit demanding and stubborn at times, but he has fit right in. Since he is a man's man he has bonded with my husband and now he is coming to understand why I HAD to have another one.

We are having a blast,we have been out on the boat, to the dog park, they pull my baby stroller like the true working dogs that they are. I am excited to hear from other weim owners that "get it".

From another owner of two Weims I can say "I GET IT!". I can't really say that my husband, family members or friends understand it but I DO! There's just something about these dogs that you can't really put your finger on! The sad thing is that when people come over my dogs act like total idiots because they get so excited and people think I'm nuts for having 2 of these wild and crazy dogs. But when they see them alone then things are different. When I took Gracie (by herself) to the park with my daughter I could tell she was really impressed and had a different opinion of Gracie after that. And a few times I have taken Gracie over my Mother's lately and she has been so sweet and well behaved and my Mother is falling in love with her! I think the two puppies together (all wound up) is a bit overwhelming for people - heck it's overwhelming for me! But I always tell people "they aren't normally like this" and they give me that look like "ya right" Rolling Eyes

Welcome! Having two weims was the best experience as a pet owner that I ever had. We lost our two year old Zane last month, and being without him has forever changed our lives. We also have a 8 month old blue, his name is Wyatt and we are searching for the right pup to be a brother or sister to him. We have our names in at our breeder for another silver, but there could also be the chance we find the right rescue also. Maybe we just might have three!!! These furkids really do attach themselves well to your hearstrings...there is not one thing I would not do for my weims. It is almost as if they understand everything that is going on, and how they can help you emotionally... This breed is a breed all of its own.

Jack and Stella are beautiful!

Oh my 2 years old is so young. Was he sick?
My cousin fell in love with my Stella and decided to buy a weim...how ever she is a dobie lover and not so used to all of the attention a weim gives and needs from you. She is looking to re home him. He is 2 years old. She bought him from a local breeder in my area that never sold him as a pup because one of his testicles didn't descend and he was the runt of the litter. He had NEVER been in a house, on a leash or had any socialization other than we he went to feed his other "breeding dogs. Despite all of that he has been a wonderful companion dog that hasn't had any accidents in the house and loves her kids. She has very mixed emotions about re homing him, but I understand. I don't think after having and understanding one particular breed it is that easy to having another. I would take Sterling in a heartbeat, but we just adopted Jack and we are to our dog limit as of now. I see you are in Nebraska...that would be a bit far, but it was just a thought.
