So today Lincoln just wasn't acting himself. He did not want to be outside, he'd wait by the gate to get back in the house. When he was outside (and even inside) he would randomly kick his back feet out (kind of like he does after he pees sometimes).

He came inside and went and laid down on the bathroom rug (which is strange for him) and I could see that it was almost like he was having spasms in his legs and he could not get comfortable.

He'd have manic moments too, where he'd run like crazy for a second and then plop down and curl up in a ball, then kind of thrash around. It was so weird.

We took him to our breeder's place because tonight was supposed to be a Puppy Hike (litter reunion) and the pups started running and playing and then all of a sudden Lincoln pulled up lame on his front leg with no apparent cause and he screamed and screamed probably for 2 minutes straight. It was so scary.

Breeder suspects pano as there is no fever, but we are keeping an eye on it. She gave me an anti-inflammatory to have on hand since we're leaving for the cottage tommorow! I hope he's okay, I just have to work on keeping him quiet at the cottage *rolls eyes*...impossible I'm sure.

We're crossing our fingers its just a bit of pano and not the onset of HOD's...Lincoln's vet insurance kicks in on Tuesday....let's hope he does okay over the weekend at the cottage!

Lincoln has just erupted in hives almost from head to toe!!

We just dosed him with Benadryl and are staying up with him to make sure it's working, because otherwise we're off the E-vet...poor guy, he's sleeping right now but he looks so uncomfortable.

I have no idea what is up with this pup...if anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears.

Oh the poor little guy! if the hives don't go down in an hour or so and if he gets more uncomfortable it probably would be in his best interest to go to the vet. They can give him something right away that will take down the hives and possibly the pain in his legs. Sounds like pano when more than 1 leg is involved but he is very young for that. We usually don't see pano until they are 5 mnths and older. Did he get any new treats or eat any strange plants outside???? When was his last vaccinations?

Definitely if you are going away you will want to make sure she is 100%

Our thoughts are with you and Lincoln for a speedy recovery

Well it looks like the hives have gone down with the Benadryl.

I'm thinking this poor boy just has a whole bunch of things going on at the same time. He's also teething (lost 2 that I've seen!) Haven't had any more pano episodes, but he's being kept very quiet.

The hives sound like an allergic reaction, and that could be what's making his ears itchy (he's a shaking/scratching crazy man). It's so hard to tell what it was though:
I started a new bag of food yesterday, same brand.
He was unattended in the yard 2 days ago for 20 minutes while I cut the grass on the outside of the fence.
I took him on an offleash walk 2 days ago after dark, so it's sometimes hard to see what he's doing (eating something etc).

Anyways the food's going, regardless since it's puppy food and we're switching him to adult.

We leave for the cottage in a few hours, so if you don't hear any updates from me, then you know Lincoln's doing good and we're just having a fun time by the beach. If he's not feeling well, we'll bring him back (it's only an hour) to see his vet.

You know, I've really learned what this dog means to me the past couple of days. Somehow they get in there and wrap themselves around your heart. Soppy / in love

My next door neighbors (and best friends!!) have a Golden with pano. It had been going on for a while, their vet diagnosed it as a sprain a few times (he's a hyper dog). Finally they took him to mine for a second opinion- my vet diagnosed him with pano. She gave him some pain medication for the bad days and gave them some hope (he'll outgrow it when he hits adulthood). For now they try not to over exhert him and on the bad days they keep him very quiet and give him his pain meds.
