My dog, winston is 11 months today and 85 pounds. I was wondering if anyone could supply me with a good guestimate of his final weight? I am concerned that he will be too big and loose his athleticism. He is very fit and athletic now but with 10-15 more pounds I see him being very bulky, which is not my goal.

I would say he'll put on some more weight but probably not get much taller. As to how much weight you never know. How has his growth patterns been so far and what is he fed?

I dont really follow the growth pattern...hes slowed down a few months ago in height but weight he only slowed slightly. He is fed a mix of california natural and proplan, both puppy foods.

you can try switching him half puppy half adult because the puppy foods will definitely make him gain more

We pulled Wyatt off of puppy food completely and he was just turning 7 months when we did this, he is now 8 months and has been on the adult food now for a month and has toned down alot but still is a chunk, he weighs 67pounds as of last week. He is starting to get alot of length to him. We are watching weight here, Wyatts father was 140 pounds and his mother was around 80 pounds. We do like to add veggies and other stuff to his food also. We feed twice a day and around 1 1/2 cups per feed.

Somewhere on this board there is a thread that mentions about weight and suggestion of food...that is why we took Wyatt off the puppy food.

I'd switch him off puppy food, too. There's no way to estimate the size of the pup other than looking at the parents...and even then it's kinda a toss up!

I may have said this before, but I LOVE that picture of Icarus...his ears are awesome!!!

I agree with some of the others-I'd take him off the puppy food.

Georgia is 72 lbs at 1 yr old. Her father was 100 lbs & mother 80 lbs. She slowed down in her growth the last couple of months. We switched her to adult food at 1 yr. Feed her twice a day, about 2 cups per feeding.

Aren't males generally larger than females?

Today at the vet Zane was 90.6 lbs. He's 28" tall. He turned 1 on 7/5/08. Shocked I think he may be getting too many treats lately. I'll post a good picture of him later this week to get your opinions and see if I need to dial down the food intake!

Derek is 17 months and weighs 73 pounds. He really stopped the huge weight increases around 10 - 11 months and has been holding pretty steady. I free feed so I don't know how much he really eats. I just always make sure there is some food in the bowl.

Ummm, yeah! You know, you're album is empty Wink !!!!!!!

I had no clue Zane was that big! Kam was a biggie too, but he was not at all bulky - in fact, he was very lanky, but not skin and bones. He'd never let me measure him completely, but he was at least 28" and about 95lbs.

I know, I know....I'm not so great at that and I don't take a lot of pictures of him. Here are a couple of quick ones I took tonight, not the best lighting:

Here's Zane the sicky on the couch yesterday:

Zane acting like a nut, about 2 months ago:

The camera woke him up, but he likes all his stuff with him when he sleeps:

he looks pretty OK weight wise in those pics, though it's hard to tell from that angle. You really need a side-on shot to be able to tell.

90lbs is not bad for a 28" dog, depending on if he's big-framed or not. I had a 27" dog that was in show-shape at 95 lbs, but he had all the frame one could ever want in a Weim. Some more slightly-built Weims would have been overweight at that weight, though.
