| Zane's been trying to throw up all night, but a little bit of whitish fluid is all that has been coming up. He did go poo this morning, and I gave him a bit of food about 2 hours ago to try to settle his stomach. He just got sick again and threw up his food, grass, some apple that he ate last night, part of a stick, and a large rubber band. I'll keep an eye on him this morning and take him to the vet today if he continues. I am hoping the rubberband is what was causing the problems-I assume he found it in the yard somewhere. |

The "trying to throw up" thing is bothersome to me. I'd call the vet. It's a symptom for a lot of bad stuff. It could (and is probably) nothing. But, I'd call a vet.
I'm hoping he's back to new in no time. Snuggles to Zane. |

I called Zane's vet when they opened and she said it could be nothing, or it could be an obstruction, especially since he eats rocks, socks, etc. She said they are open until late tonight, and we agreed that I should keep an eye on him for a couple/few more hours, and if he still can't keep anything down I should go ahead and bring him in so that they can rule out an obstruction or anything more serious.
Good thing I'm off today so I can keep an eye on him. I'll try to give him something to see if he gets sick again. He doesn't seem to have a fever and was running around a bit after he got sick, but that may have been because his tummy felt better. Thanks to all for the advice and kind words! |

| I just got back from the vet with Zane and they're not sure what's wrong with him. The vets are pretty sure it's not a stomach problem or obstruction. He has pooped twice today, his stomach isn't tight, he ate at about noon and has kept it down, and he doesn't mind his stomach being touched. He has fluid dripping from his mouth. He makes a gagging or hacking noise each time just before trying to throw up, so they think either he has a sore throat and he is gagging, he has some sort of a cough and is gagging, or it's an infection and stuff is dripping into his throat making him gag. He doesn't have a fever and his breathing sounds fine. They gave me pills to control his coughing/hacking and if he is still throwing up tonight I am to take him in first thing in the morning for blood work and xrays. They also gave me the emergency vet's info just in case. Hopefully he just has a scratchy throat and these pills help. With the foreign objects that he eats, it's very possible they said. |

I hope Zane is feeling better real soon. Georgia also eats things she shouldn't. She's eaten my underwear a couple of times and thrown them up the next day. A couple of months ago she started coughing and hacking like she was going to throw up. She did that for a day and we took her to the vet. They said she had like a doggy bronchitis. They put her on antibiotics and she was better in a couple of days. Thinking about Zane. |

| So far so good with the coughing medicine. He ate dinner, drank, and hasn't coughed or tried to throw up at all. I let him lay on the couch with me and he kept swallowing the entire time, so maybe he does just have a scratchy throat. I'm going to work out before I go to bed and then give him another dose, so tonight will be the test. Thanks again to everyone for the kind words. I was just so freaked out that he may have an obstruction or it was something more serious with all the sick dogs lately, but I feel like he will be fine now. |

How about kennel cough? Is he hacking before the white fluid comes up?
That's what it sounds like to me...I hope he's feeling better soon! |

| Zane is feeling much better tonight. It was some type of upper respitory problem that was gagging him and making him throw up, and his cough medicine has made a huge difference. It knocked him out last night and all day today, so he got some good rest. He hasn't thrown up since this morning and has only coughed/hacked a couple of times this evening! |
