It looks like a dremel. We had bought one designed esp for pets. It broke less than 6mo later. We just went with the dremel designed for house work this time. Hoping it will be a bit more durable. Dremels are great for all of the reasons they show, but I don't think it is really quite so easy.

This does look like a dremel tool to me. I bought a dremel to use on Georgia's nails but she runs when she hears it.

I use a dremmel. It was hard to start but I followed these instructions:

I also have some peanut butter handy for when we are finished.'

PamK, thanks for this info. I will try her suggestions for reintroducing the dremmel to Georgia, using lots of treats with each step. Hopefully this will work. A couple of weeks ago I had to board Georgia at my vet's office for an out-of-town weekend. I asked them to trim her nails while she was there. When I picked her up the vet said it took 3 people to get her nails trimmed and that the next time they did it she would need to be sedated! I don't want to do that every 4-6 weeks so I've got to try to get her accustomed to me doing her nails. I think the dremmel would be less traumatic than clippers. Wish me luck!!

I give Bo a bully stick when I want to dremel her claws, works well as it completely distracts her. I also keep reassuring her that she's such a good girl whilst I'm doing it.

If only I could work the same magic on her big brother Bailey!!

I've read about these "bully sticks" several times on this site. Haven't gotten any for Georgia yet as they're pretty expensive at Petsmart. So many times I've tried different chewing things that Georgia goes through in a matter of 15 minutes... that can get pretty expensive. She's even gotten to where she can chew up a large knuckle bone in a couple of days. I'm not too crazy about these as they are really messy and her stools get very loose if she chews and chews on one for long periods.
