| Icarus is going in on Friday for an x-ray. His left front elbow is slightly bigger then the other and he's limping. The limping is much worse with playing and exercising then better when rested. I've been researching and found maybe OCD or elbow dysplasia. Has anyone had experience with either of these. The poor guy's just getting over lyme's so I thought the limping was part of that but the limp isn't getting better. The vet thinks it's unrelated. I hope we can get it fixed soon he's still a pup and needs to be a little nutty sometimes. |

Working at a vet clinic I see this all to often (if it is OCD) Yes it is a form of elbow/Shoulder dysplasia however it can be easily managed!! So your first step is to have the issue diagnoses by your vet. There are a few other reasons why his elbow is swollen like Panosteitis (inflammation of th joints) or a joint infection. It could also be related to the lyme disease he had too.
Regardless if it is OCD they can do surgery if the elbow is really bad or can just manage with pain meds and a good joint food like Hill's J/D. We had a weim that with rest for 4 months the lesion healed up just fine!
Hope you baby turns out to be fine and please let us know how the vet visit goes |
