Shawn and I have agreed to take in a young male weim until Saturday. A good Samaritan found him on the street, but her other dog does not get along with him. He is being adopted from a couple in Atlanta...but they cannot come until Saturday. Wilson and him are about the same age, 8 months....so it should be fun!!! I know it sounds crazy, but I do not want Wilson to get to attached to this new friend. We are going to keep their crates in separate room, but does anyone think this will be a problem and does anyone have any advice?

We received him last night. It turns out he was 2 1/2 years old. He is very small, about the size of 8 mo old Wilson. The rescue lady said this was probably a result of backyard breeding. He had lost most of his hair because he had been kept in an outside kennel in the 104 degree temps. It broke my heart!
We had several problems last night, and had to return him to the rescue this morning. This is a very sweet dog, and it was not his fault. It was all Wilson. Wilson would not let him anywhere near us. Every time he came close, Wilson would jump on him and then the two would start fighting. We felt as if this was unfair to the new dog (Smith). We left him with the owner of the local rescue, she is going to keep him until Saturday. She did not originally want to keep him because her oldest Weim has a heart murmur, and she did not want to stress it out, but she felt as if this would be better for Smith.
We are going to meet his foster parents from the Atlanta rescue on Saturday. We realize that we need to work with Wilson on this, does anyone have any suggestions? It broke my heart to give him back...the poor thing just wants some love. |
