Play biting the leash

Anyone have advice for stopping her from play biting the leash. Often when walking and training (heal walking), she'll get real silly and start hopping all over the place. She'll start reaching up and biting the leash and nipping at my shirt (sometimes arms). Sometimes she'll jump up on me. I usually firmly tell her No! If that doesn't work I'll simply stop and ignore her until she drops the leash and we can start again.

She's young. She will outgrow that. Both my pups used to do it too. I think what you are doing is good, but with both of mine I just tried to get them to concentrate on the walk and getting moving rather than playing and eventually it stopped. Gracie still does that sometimes at the beginning of our walk but once we get moving she stops.

You're doing the right thing by ignorning her until she stops. Don't worry about it, she'll get it if you do that consistently.

My boy is 4 months and does the exact same thing.

Ignoring seems to work.

I'm experiencing the same problem. I try to ignore it and when it gets bad, I just make him stop and sit.

Chloe does the same thing @ 5 months. But only before we go for our daily long walk and after we return to the yard. When the walk starts she's all business.....

Ace used to do this too when he was little.
It got annoying, so I bought a metal chain leash, instead of a nylon one. (It has a nylon handle...... cheap at Petsmart)
He stopped biting the leash then.
Now I can put him on any kind of leash and he's fine.
I think it was just a phase.......crazy dogs...... Rolling Eyes
