When U.S rescues get overfilled with weims does the U.S. ever partner with the Canadian weim rescue to help out...
I wondered about this as there are far more people applying for dogs then there are dogs available in Canada. |

I'm sure if a Canadian wanted to apply for a weim from a rescue here, especially now since we are so overwhelmed, they would certainly be considered. Transport would need to be arranged.
I really hope that whatever is going on in the states with dogs, slows down soon. |

| I know that the Ontario Weim Rescue and the rescues in Michigan often collaborate, as there are so many more weims in MI than in ON... |

The new member yoko said their new pup is from the Great Lakes Rescue in Michigan.
Not weims but I was just talking to a woman at the dog park and her rescue is from the states. She said the rescue by her home (somewhere in Mississauga) just brought up 40 dogs from the states and that they commonly do that or bring them from other provinces. |

Huh, I wonder if that's Lichen from the weimrescue911 list. |

| Two Weim/Lab mixes recently went from GA to Canada... if economical, consistent transport could be established, I'm sure it would be possible to do more. |

6 month old weim born in Alabama, moved to Michigan, then brought home to Toronto. Thanks to GLWR. |

Yes we adopted our weim from great lakes weim rescue...our dog was in grand rapids Michigan and we are from Toronto. We drove down to pick her up. We searched for a while and there are definitely a tonne more dogs looking for homes in the states than in Canada. Crossing the border was no problem at all...all we showed was her rabies vaccine certificate.
Be wary of so called rescues from Quebec. I have read that many rescues are really just folks set up to profit off selling puppy mill dogs as rescued animals. Make sure to check the rescue's reputation out.
Great lakes weim rescue volunteers were a pleasure to work with. |

I know that two Heartland Weims were adopted by a couple in Canada about two years ago.

In the northwest, we (Oregon Weim Rescue) talk a lot with North Vancouver Weim Rescue in BC. We've had several people come down from Cananda to adopt dogs we've had available. But we don't transfer our rescues to them if we get full, we just work harder! |

I know myself my boy also came from U.S. via me...LOL
Could some of these dogs that have been assessed be able to enter the canadian rescue as there are people waiting...It would cut down on the waiting list in Canada...like myself and others who have gone to the U.S....I'm sure we would have adopted out of Canada if the availability would have been there...
If the transportation and volunteers were available could this be viable when there is an over abundance of weims in the U.S....thinking that some of the weims could be saved....
We have a greyhound group of dedicated individuals who home visit potential adopters..and if they meet the criteria..the volunteers make a trip to the U.S. and pick up the lucky dogs...I think they make the trip 1 a month to pick up the lucky dogs who now have wonderful homes... |
