Thanks for posting his pedigree. Very nice!
Regarding showing him yourself vs. hiring a handler and small shows vs. specialty show: If you are able to show him yourself, my hat goes off to you! I personally suck at it. LOL. I have shown my dogs at matches to give them practice, but haven't done them justice that a professional handler can.
Regarding small show versus specialty: Why don't you enter him in the show that comes first. If it's the local small shows, do it. Given the price of gas nowadays, closer distance is a good thing. As far as finishing a dog at a specialty even if the dog doesn't need the major.....I have done that too, because it shows your support of the club and there is no guarantee that your dog will win. However, your dog being entered helps keep the numbers up. Years ago, a friend of mine had a bitch who finished her championship on a Saturday. A few of the exhibitors asked her to enter her on Sunday, because if she didn't the major would break. Of course she would be taking the chance that she would win. A quick poll ringside....she was shown again in the classes. She won. Upside: There weren't enough males for a major but since winners dog went Best of winners, he got his major to finish.
Okay, so sorry for the lengthy response. LOL.
Here is my very old outdated website so you can see some of my past champions. I know that many of you on this forum don't know me, but this shows I have been around for a while. Jackie http://www.angelfire.com/ct2/Pennywood/ |

Congrats. I know that was hard to do, we have 10 points and need one major.
If you enjoy showing I'd try to finish him at a small show near you. I can't imagine how proud you must be. |

Jackie great site and so many looooovely weimies! You must be very proud of them!
Pam, congratulations on your successes with Derek!! 10 pts and a Major? That's VERY impressive, you should be very proud of him.
weimways, weimdawgs, you got me all misty eyed now! Thank you so much for your super kindness!!! He is such a joy to me and I am so proud of him, but I know it goes back to the breeder. They are really fantastic people. His registered name is: Waltz To The Top v Anson (and Logan is after Mt. Logan in Canada, the highest point, I'm a climber) I'll post the pro shots when they arrive, I hope they come out well.
Dhondt, easy? LOL no. I know better than to think that! I have a serious respect for anyone who can make handling a show dog in the ring look easy!!! And there are so many nice dogs out there, it's hard to know what a judge is looking for and who will win. I just got very lucky this weekend and recognize it |

Congratulations from Grandpa Ethan!
He reminds me of Ethan quite a bit. Ethan also has that powerful reach and drive movement in the ring.
