I just recently noticed a small bump on Gus's head about a week ago. I inspected it just to make sure it wasn't a flea or tick. I thought it was a mosquito bite and that it would go away. It hasn't gotten any smaller and now there is another bump. These bumps are a tiny bit smaller than a pea. I know that dogs get some sort of "skin tags" on their faces, but this is on the very top of his head. They don't seem to itch or hurt, because he will let me mess with them.

I also thought that they could be from running into our table (My weim seems to think that his head can fit in small places) They are not bruised or inflamed. I can roll them around which makes me think that they could be lipomas (begnin fatty collection underneath skin) Has anyone every had these?

Just noticed Darby's got a few. One larger (a bit smaller than a gumball) and 2 smaller (pea sized).

So, wrayweim and Ilovemygus, do the pooches still have them? Better? Worse? Same??????

Coltrane's went completely away basically the next day. All I ever saw was the one pea sized bump...it was never leaking any liquid or anything like that (as I had seen described here and elsewhere).
Consequently he is on a topical antibiotic/antifungal for his ear, but the chances that is getting into his system and possibly had some affect, seems possible.

The idea that these could manifest as evidence of a serious infection keeps me on my toes, though. Somewhere we read that if it is an infection it's probably due to tick/flea bite. He's had frontline for the past two months, and although it's definitely possible we felt like it was unlikely. The article recommended using an oral antibiotic and a topical flea/tick treatment and regular flea/tick shampooings if the bumps persisted.

We're making a big move from Ohio to New Orleans on Saturday...so I'm relieved it went away in the midst of all this other madness.

Gus's still seem to be the same. However he is in Michigan with his daddy until tomorrow. I asked my boyfriend if they went down or gotten worse. He said that they were about the same. So I guess I'll take his word for it Cool

Since Gus comes home tomorrow I will let ya know for sure!

Darby's went away on her head. I noticed another one on her shoulder. Right now, I'm guessing bites.....mosquitoes have been awful here lately Mad

Could be a histiocytoma. Winston has had them on his head before. They go away on their own but can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. Typically occurs in younger dogs.

Gus's went away but they left small dark circles where they once were...it's really weird. It almost looks like the seat of a car when the driver is a smoker and there are little circular burn marks in the fabric.
