Green beans are awesome for helping a dog lose weight. My dogs love carrots, and I know a couple of people that feed green beans for weight loss and carrots for treats.
I don't know of any ingredients that might cause a dog to bloat. I think it's part genetics and part eating to fast, and a few other factors that cause bloat. Maybe someone else knows otherwise?

We haven't given Django green beans yet but he does get carrots and he loves them. We have baby carrots for treats AND I've discovered a way to make him eat his meals much more slowly. I take a whole carrot, cut it in half and toss it in the bowl. He cannot scarf the food down as quickly because he actually has to eat around the carrot to get the kibble. It honestly has doubled the length of time that it takes him to eat his food. Then when he's done, he takes out a piece of carrot and sits on his blanket and chews on it. We are out of full size carrots right now and we were quickly reminded of how quickly he eats his food without it in there. Scary!

I give Trinity all natural sweet potato treats. I get them at a local Natural dog food store she loves them!

On the topic of bloat. I have started giving Trinity smaller portions of food several times a day rather than just filling up the bowl which is good. I do have a question however. She drinks quite a bit of water right after she eats and I am afraid it will make the food swell in her belly and cause bloat. The recent posts about bloat have me really freaked out. Am I over-reacting?

My female Cedar had bloat. She had just finished playing outside. Came in and gulped down her food. Six hours later she had bloat. We had to rush her in for emergency surgery. She's fine now. We always make sure that when they play that they don't eat an hour before or after.
